🌱 On Soil Health and Food Systems Day at COP17 Mongolia, the spotlight is on the people shaping the future of our soils.

Young people are already leading restoration, agroecology, composting and soil stewardship across their communities, while women farmers are fundamental to food security, healthy soils and resilient agrifood systems.

This session will celebrate the International Year of the Woman Farmer 2026 and showcase women- and youth-led solutions, including the launch of the Manifesto Implementation Guide and the World Food Forum National Youth Chapter – Mongolia. It will also make the case for secure land rights, greater access to finance and meaningful participation in decision-making as essential foundations for a more equitable transition to healthier soils and resilient food systems.

• Insights into RE Africa and its contextual approach
• Findings from the RE Africa Training Needs Assessment (TNA)
• An interactive session where students contribute their perspectives and help co-design priorities for restoration education in Africa

From international negotiations down to grassroots conservation, understanding global commitments like the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) and the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework (KM GBF) is essential for young leaders driving real change. This session will explore how regional mechanisms—led by the ASEAN Centre for Biodiversity (ACB)—bridge global biodiversity targets with regional and national realities across Southeast Asia.

Participants will discover how the ASEAN Youth Biodiversity Programme (AYBP) empowers youth across the region, creating spaces for young conservationists to influence policy, lead biodiversity mainstreaming, and take active roles in global environmental governance!
