A good dance teacher will always take care of the person first as a priority and the dancer a secondary. Because all educated and experienced teachers know that the young people they work with will always be a person but most likely will not always be a dancer.

In dance, we have the highest participation rates of all extracurricular activities for children yet only the smallest percentage of them will go on to be professional artists. This only highlights the fact that the development of the person is far more important. The ongoing impact that dance teachers have on a young persons life is wildly under appreciated. They will carry your negative words as far as your positive ones. If you have the privilege to work with young people as a dance teacher, then you have the duty of care to influence them in the most positive way.

We want to raise young people who will support the arts ongoing. Adults who will sit in an audience feeling happy and nostalgic about their own journey through dance, not bitter and broken. We are creating the audiences of the future not just the performers! Person first… dancer second. ALWAYS 💜🌈💕

BALLET FOR FUTURE? WIR MÜSSEN REDEN! - Das Staatsballett Berlin eröffnet die im öffentlichen Raum entstandene Debatte um Repertoire, Kanon und Praxis des klassischen Balletts und hinterfragt dazu Formen und Praktiken der historischen Aufführungspraxis im eigenen Haus. Der Eintritt zu den Diskussionsrunden im Foyer de la Danse der Deutschen Oper Berlin ist frei, eine Anmeldung unter [email protected] ist erforderlich.

Im Rahmen von fünf Terminen sollen die drängendsten Fragen zu Age/Race/Religion/Ability/Class/Gender ergebnisoffen diskutiert werden. Gemeinsam mit Dr. Mariama Diagne, promovierte Tanzwissenschaftlerin und ausgebildete Tänzerin, und moderiert von Claudia Henne, Tanzkritikerin und Kulturjournalistin, setzt das Staatsballett Berlin den Dialog um die Zukunft des Balletts unter neuen Vorzeichen fort.
