Sometimes the best views require the toughest of climbs ⛰️

Yesterday I received some sad news and contrary to my old habits, I managed to get over it quite quickly and look at it from a different perspective 🙃

Was it easy to get here? No, but man is it worth it!!
After years of inner work, talk therapy, energy work, exercise, yoga and mindfulness I am now in a place where I am at peace with myself and that to me, is the greatest gift.

So how do you build habits that empower and help you create the life you want to live?

1. Become aware of yourself and your triggers. Really get to know the real you - this will take a long time but it is worth it, I promise you!
2. Pause. If you feel like you have to react, take a minute and reflect on whether your action resonates with your values and who you are as a person.
3. Feel your emotions. Don't deny or try to change them, instead name the emotions you are experiencing, talk to someone about it or write them down. Go for a walk in nature or listen to some relaxing music and embrace whatever you are feeling as if you've chosen it.
4. Keep doing your best. This will change day-to-day as you continue to grow and evolve, but every day really strive to be as authentic, kind, and generous as you can be.

Let's embrace new possibilities and let go of things that no longer serve us 🙏

Look, mum a snail 🐌

This was our moment in nature yesterday 🏞️
I love hiking and the outdoors in general, but the best thing I experienced is being able to share this with our little ones 🧒🏼👧🏼 they really stop and admire everything with unrelenting curiosity and wonder.

It's more than quality time together, it's sharing experiences that shape us as human beings.

Much love,
A

Many people asked me after I completed the Frankfurt marathon, when is the next one? Or if I plan on training people for it? Honestly, it's simply not something I would recommend to anyone: 42.12km push your body to a limit where running is not enjoyable (at least for the majority of us) and it's also hard on your joints and bones. So unless you're fit and you enjoy challenging yourself, I wouldn't recommend it. It's hard. BUT... and this is a big one, training for a marathon can teach you a lot of things about yourself:
🐢 Consistency and working hard beats talent or youth. I saw young and fit looking people quit after
10k, while much more mature runners kept a steady pace throughout
🧠 Your mind will want you to quit long before your body does. Figure out your 'Why' and you won't give up
⏳Enjoy the moment - don't think about the next 20km in front of you, take it one step at a time and you won't get discouraged
😁 Have fun! Not many people get to run an official marathon, it's a wonderful event

These are just a few of the things that impacted me and what I would like to share with you. What do you think? Would you run a marathon? Or have you already?

Google reminded me that 3 years ago I was in the Atacama desert, completing the last leg of a beautiful trip with many unforgettable memories.

Although I hated it at times, this trip taught me a lot, such as the value of being yourself and at peace with who you really are. Sometimes finding yourself looks more like creating yourself and the life you want to live.

Happy hump-day everyone 🐪
Another week has almost gone by and I’m feeling like days are just converging, how about you? 🙃
As many of you have noticed, I’ve been posting somewhat semi-regularly what I’ve been eating everyday and some of you, have even asked me how I come up with my portion sizes. Well, today I will show you an example of how I build my food plate with a post-workout meal example ⬅️⬇️
🥬 I fill half of my plate with colourful, in-season veggies
🍗 the other half of my plate is high quality protein (can be of vegetable source, chicken, fish, turkey or lean red meat)
🌾 then I add a little bowl of starches (brown and wild rice in my case)
💧and I always have a glass of water with my meals to aid digestion. Contrary to the popular myth that you shouldn’t drink water with your meals because it makes your gastric fluid less acidic, that simply isn’t true and a glass of water or two will help with digestion.

Lastly, as we always say - eat slowly and follow your hunger cues 😌
And if you need some help with planning your meals and calculating your portion sizes, drop us a message or email and we will get back to you 📩

P.S. The infographic on the second slide is taken from PN’s food plate.

6 weeks postpartum and I just finished my first resistance training workout 💪🏻
I have been feeling really great over the last few weeks and as agreed with my doctor, I’ve started strength training again. I will be posting weekly on our feed and daily via stories updates of my fitness journey including detailed workouts and meal plans.
Today I did the following full body workout, which should take you about 20-25 min with 30 sec brake in between sets. So let’s get started:
1️⃣ Bodyweight squats 3 sets x 12 reps
2️⃣ Resistance band lat pulldown 3x12
3️⃣ Bodyweight hip trusts 3x12
4️⃣ Kneeling push-ups 3x10
5️⃣ Half-kneeling pallof press
and ended it all with some stretching and foam rolling 🙆🏻‍♀️

Happy Monday, friends! 😌

A while back we spoke to you about the Opposite Day, remember? So we come and ask you again today: why not focus on doing things differently today? Do the opposite you normally do. Have an Opposite Week.
🤔
Are you exercising most days of the week? Why not take a couple active recovery days instead? Allow your body to recover and recompose. Its equally important. Did you know that?
🤔
You normally inhale your food and don't pay attention to the amount you eat? Why not try one-fork-at-a-time instead? Allow your mind to focus on just one thing and notice how that goes for you. We love SLOW eating 😉
🙌🏻
What are you going to do as part of your Opposite Day? Let us know in the comments below 👇🏻

Can you really eat healthily and have your summer vacation?

Yes, friends. You can. Read below to help yourself have a great holiday as well as staying healthy and making sure you nurture your body and mind.

Number 1 factor for success: Start with a can-do mindset. Every good plan starts with the right mindset. Be intentional about your health goals on vacation.

Number 2 factor for success: Leave your 'all or nothing' thinking behind. The best way is to think about each meal in isolation and not fall into the trap of 'I'm away from home therefore I'll have everything on the menu. Twice'. Choose wisely; go for nutritious, protein packed meals and your body will thank you.

Number 3 factor for success: Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate. Have water or unsweetened tea with your meal. If you do want a cocktail avoid blended or frozen drinks, which often have high sugar content.

And remember: Keeping your goal front and center helps when deciding between a cucumber water and a sugary cocktail while you're on the beach.
