Borders shape politics, economies, migration flows, and everyday social realities in powerful and often unexpected ways. This online forum takes a comparative look at the Mexico–US and Germany–Poland border regions, connecting historical developments with today’s geopolitical, social, and economic challenges.

The event is part of an international academic exchange between UNAM (Mexico) and Europa-Universität Viadrina (Germany), bringing together perspectives from two institutions working closely on border-region research and cross-border cooperation.

For students at Europa-Universität Viadrina, this is especially relevant: it connects directly to life in a cross-border setting and invites reflection on local experiences through a global lens.

✨Staff Training Days 2026 at the Europa-Universität Viadrina

We are delighted to invite staff members from International Office and university administration to our upcoming Staff Training Days at Viadrina, from 28 to 30 September 2026.

This three-day training will explore how artificial intelligence and digitalisation can enhance administrative processes and support international collaboration. Participants will gain practical insights into AI and digital transformation, examining opportunities, risks and real-world applications in their respective working fields.

Through workshops, hands-on sessions and expert inputs, participants will develop the knowledge and skills needed to use digital and AI-based tools effectively, responsibly and strategically in their daily work.
The programme will also provide space for mutual exchange and collaborative learning, offering the opportunity to share experiences, learn from one another and discuss current challenges and opportunities related to AI and digitalisation in higher education.

The DAAD Prize for International Students 2026 recognizes outstanding international degree-seeking students who combine academic excellence with meaningful social and intercultural engagement at the Europa-Universität Viadrina.

🏆 Award: €1,000

👥 Eligibility criteria
The prize is open to:
• International students who obtained their university entrance qualification (e.g. high school diploma or equivalent) outside Germany and are currently enrolled at Viadrina
• Bachelor students from the 2nd year of studies onwards
• Master students from the 2nd semester onwards
• Recent graduates (final examination completed no more than 3 months before the deadline)
❗ Exchange and visiting students are not eligible

📚 Minimum academic requirements (by programme)
• Law: minimum grade 1.0 (German grading system)
• Law and Politics / Politics and Law: min. 2.3
• Law and Business / Business and Law: min. 2.3
• Business Administration and Economics: min. 2.3
• Social and Cultural Studies: min. 1.5
• European New School (ENS): min. 2.0

One programme, millions of storie.
With the Erasmus+ programme, Viadrina has supported more than 8,000 Viadrina students in their study abroad experiencing Europe since the beginning of its participation.
Within the campaign, we are now sharing just one of the stories made possible by this programme.
Mareike is currently in Warsaw as part of her Erasmus+ mobility and represents one of these stories: a journey shaped by personal growth, international academic life, and new cultural perspectives.
The initiative highlights the individual dimension of a programme that, as a whole, has enabled millions of young people to study abroad.

Ready for the Schnupperstudium 2026?
🎓 The Trial Studies (Schnupperstudium) programme at the European University Viadrina gives you the opportunity to experience university life before starting a degree 📚. You can attend regular lectures, meet lecturers and students, explore the campus 🏛️, and get a realistic impression of the study programmes offered at Viadrina.
From 6 June to 7 July 2026, you can join the programme for one or several days and attend lectures from the Faculties of Business Administration and Economics, Law, and Cultural Sciences.
As part of the programme, guided campus tours are offered throughout the entire period (6 June – 7 July 2026) every Tuesday and Thursday at 1:00 p.m. ⏰, with the meeting point in the foyer of the Auditorium Maximum.
A Mensa Wristband 🍽️ can also be obtained through the Central Student Advisory Service, allowing you to access student-priced meals in the university cafeteria.
