‘The English Practice’ offers a unique learning environment that links sound pedagogical methods with experiential learning for students of all ages, nationalities and levels of proficiency. Using new technology to evaluate, train and develop the cognitive skills that underpin learning, The English Practice offers specialist lessons for gifted students who need new challenges or an alternative app

roach to reach their potential, as well as those with specific learning difficulties such as Dyslexia, Auditory Processing Difficulties, ADHD and Asperger’s Syndrome. Run by Carol Jones, who has successfully directed ‘English For Fun’ in Waldbronn since 1998, the new ‘English Practice’ introduces a new initiative alongside regular English courses. Trained at Manchester University, Carol holds qualified teacher status in the UK for working with children aged between 4 and 18 years of age. She has a wide range of skills and experience both as Director of ‘English For Fun’ and through her work for 11 years as Support teacher and Educational Support Coordinator for Kindergarten and Primary at the European School, Karlsruhe. ❤️25 years at the English Practice❤️

What a truly wonderful day! I’m so grateful to everyone who helped make the 25th Anniversary of 'The English Practice' so special ❤️
We spent the day learning together with our 25 guests, celebrating 25 years of collaborative work. Amazing colleagues, from different nationalities and backgrounds, who have worked with me, either at the Praxis or externally from European and International Schools , over the years, plus a couple of new faces for the future! Travelling from Karlsruhe, Baden-Baden, Stuttgart, and Strasbourg to be there, how special is that ❤️ A very special thank you to Steven, Nicole, and Mel for speaking at the seminar and sharing their passion and inspiration with us all.
In the evening, I was delighted to meet up with our adult students, along with some former students, some who travelled from Berlin and Munich to join us - (including one of my very first Kindergarten children!). It meant so much to see the amazing people they’ve grown up to be. I will definitely be hosting another reunion in the future ❤️
Last, but not least, a special shout-out to Schwitzer’s Hotel, Waldbronn, for making the day so perfect, from start to finish❤️
Here’s to many more years of learning, laughter, and connection!

In Finland, kids are getting help with reading from a special assistant: their “best friend on four legs. ” The “Lukukaveri” method, started in 2017, lets children read next to a trained dog, without any pressure or fear of making mistakes.

The dog just listens. No judgment, no corrections, no rush. It’s a calm way for kids to build confidence and enjoy reading.

What’s interesting is that these dogs, who have to be at least two years old and specially trained, are helping not just in libraries, but even with university students.

It’s nice to see how the bond between people and animals can support learning in such a simple way.
