⚽ Ready, Set, Kick Off!

Another season of the Primary Football League is underway! Our U9 Mixed, U11 Boys and U11 Girls teams have been working hard through tryouts and training, showing fantastic enthusiasm, commitment and determination.

Being part of a team is about more than football skills. It’s about supporting one another, showing respect, sportsmanship and resilience, and taking pride in representing St. George’s both on and off the pitch.

We’re incredibly proud of our pupils and can’t wait to see what the season brings! ⚽🙌

Two Schools, One IB Community 🌍📚

Our Language B IB teachers spent two days learning, sharing and connecting with their colleagues from our sister school St. George’s School Cologne !

From exploring the latest IB information to discussing how we can better support students and help them find their way through the IB system, it was a valuable opportunity to learn from one another.

Being an IB school means continuously developing. Staying up to date, sharing expertise and working closely with our sister schools helps us keep growing together and, most importantly, support our students on their IB journey.

🎭 Stepping into Shakespeare’s world

A group of our Drama and English students, accompanied by several teachers, travelled to Mülheim to experience Shakespeare’s Othello, performed by The Lord Chamberlain’s Men at Kloster Saarn.

The traditional, all-male ensemble brought the tragedy to life in an immersive outdoor setting, captivating our students with the power of live theatre.

Watching the performance gave the students new found appreciation for the texts they study in class, while offering a deeper insight into Shakespeare’s craft and the emotions behind his work.

📚 The wonders of books ✨

Reading is about so much more than finding information. Every book helps students develop their vocabulary, strengthen their reading skills, improve concentration and discover new ideas, perspectives and stories.

That’s why our students have dedicated time to visit the library, browse the shelves and discover something new to read. And when they don’t know where to start, our library staff are always there to help students find the right book, recommend their next great read and, for our younger pupils, read them a story that connects with their classes.

Our recent Rheinschmökern Book Fair brought even more choice into school, giving students the chance to find a new favourite for their bookshelf at home. Lots of amazing books have already been bought, taken home and even finished during break times!

🎓 And with that, The IB journey begins!

Our Year 12 students have officially started their IB journey! Over the next two years, they’ll be working towards their IB exams and, eventually, that well-deserved IB Diploma at their Year 13 graduation.

To help them get off to the best possible start, our students took part in an IB workshop day, learning how to make the most of and exploring ways to prepare, organise and stay on top of their learning throughout the next two years.

While its the start of a long journey, and we can’t wait to see where it takes them, what they achieve along the way. Good luck, Year 12! You’ve got this!

☕ Coffee, Questions & Learning!

A big thank you to everyone who joined our latest Coffee Morning. We had such a great turnout, and it was wonderful to see how many parents were able to take the time to learn more about their child’s learning journey.

At the Coffee Morning, Ms. Mathews, Ms. Dua and Mr. Walkingshaw shared insights into assessment changes, study skills and how parents can support their children throughout Secondary School. At the Q&A that followed, parents got the chance to ask their questions and addressing any worries that may have still been lingering after the presentations.

We truly value the interest and engagement of our parent community. Seeing so many of you making the time to join us, ask questions and learn more so you can support your children means a lot to us. It was also heartwarming to see so many parents staying afterwards to chat with other parents and staff, bringing our together. 💙

🚀 Little coders in the making

Our Year 1 pupils have been taking their first steps with programming in their Computing class, using visual blocks to create their own simple animations.

They have been thinking carefully about the order of their instructions and working out what needs to happen first, next and last. And, of course, there has been plenty of testing! When something didn’t work as planned, they changed it, tried again and kept going.

It was a great introduction to coding, involving lots of problem solving, creativity and persistence!

🌱Learning beyond the classroom 🌍

Our Year 12 IB Geography students took their learning into the real world as they explored the Angerbach River for their Internal Assessment. Visiting 10 sites, they collected and compared data on the river’s width, depth, velocity and slope.

Fieldwork like this allows students to turn classroom theory into something they can see, measure and investigate for themselves. It builds curiosity, critical thinking and the confidence to apply knowledge beyond the classroom.

Education is not just about knowing; it’s about understanding how what we learn connects to the world around us.

📚Sounds, words & confidence! ✨

Our RWI Phonics and Spelling groups are officially underway! Following our start-of-year assessments, pupils have settled into their new groups and are getting back into the routines of sounding, reading and spelling.

The assessments help our teachers make sure every pupil is working at the right level, with the right balance of challenge and support. It has been a fantastic start, with confidence growing and lots of enthusiasm already shining through!

We’re looking forward to seeing our pupils continue to develop their phonics, spelling and reading skills throughout the year.
