Neither Kita strikes nor crutches keep us from reaching out to the rural area 😅 We had a rocking session in Riesa today 💥 The group was smaller than usual but filled with excited school students, how nice! 🤩 Thank you for your active participation and your curiosity!

What a program today! 🤩 DNA extraction from bananas, and an interactive biophysics session on random distribution. Then, the 9th graders at GMS Pieschen met two of our interesting model organisms: hydra and mice. Plus: we had four enthusiastic newcomers joining the project for the first time! 👏🏻 What a nice demonstration of how international our crowd is: 🇮🇳 🇮🇹 🇺🇸 🇫🇷 🇨🇦 🇩🇪 ❤️

Two classes, two sessions = twice the fun! 🤩 There were some highlights in our session at Ev. Gymnasium Tharandt this week. Incl. the revival of our biophysics session on diffusion, breeding zebrafish, and an attentive skeleton watching the amazing pipetting skills of two 10th grade classes. Thank you so much for your super active contributions, the specific questions, and the warm words of appreciation at the very end! We had a blast and can’t wait to see you in the lab 😃👩🏼‍🔬🧫🔬

New year, new session! 💥 The school students at DKS-Gymnasium got to know some of our all-star model organisms, the fruit fly, zebrafish, and the house mouse. 🪰🐠🐭 With hands-on lab work they learned how the models can help us e.g. with Alzheimer’s disease and lost eye sight. Plus an extra session on how the PCR works. What a great start to a new year with hopefully many more sessions! 🤞🏻🧬🔬🧫

Today, we had a special session at BSZ Gastgewerbe on their annual „Science Day“. Our scientists from Egypt 🇪🇬, Nepal 🇳🇵, Spain 🇪🇸, and India 🇮🇳 shared their science and their experiences as foreigners living in Dresden. In lively round-table discussions the students didn’t stop to ask scientific and personal questions. Many thanks also for the wonderful feedback (incl the 1 million € for the Alzheimer‘s project 😆) and the superb hospitality! See you next year ✌🏻

New school year, new sessions! We are so happy to be out at the schools again!! 😃 Today, we did some cool science at Romain-Rolland-Gymnasium Stadt Dresden. The 12th grade students were super smart, so were their questions! Not to talk about their pipetting skills 💪🏻👩🏼‍🔬👏🏻 Thank you for your engagement and the fun session! Finally!!! We are back at school after the looong COVID-19 break! 🥳✌🏻🤩 We spent our first live session in 1.5 years at Marie-Curie-Oberschule in Dohna and had a blast! Feels so good to be back with curious students 😃 Our special guest Geert Mackenroth, the Saxon commissioner for foreigners, was particularly amazed by our two axolotls, and our international crew 🌍 Many thanks for supporting !

Our first session in 2020 took us to close-by DKS Gymnasium Dresden. Our fluffy model organisms and we had a lot of fun. 😃 We will be back next year!
