🌍 A day full of languages, international exchange and new beginnings at TU Dresden!

Yesterday was an exciting day for languages on the campus of Technische Universität Dresden – with several events highlighting the importance of language learning, international opportunities, and student support. And we at TUDIAS were delighted to be part of it!

📚 Language course registration is open!

Registration for the language courses offered to TU Dresden students and employees opened yesterday – and the response has been fantastic! Within the first 24 hours, more than 3,400 registrations were recorded across 17 different languages.
Students can register via the OPAL portal. Classes will begin on October 19. We look forward to welcoming so many language enthusiasts to our courses!

🎓 A warm welcome to our new Propädeutikum students!

Students from 10 different countries are starting their Propädeutikum at TU Dresden for the 2026/27 winter semester. Over the next semester, they will develop their German language skills and work towards the C1 level, preparing for their next step: enrolling in a degree programme at TU Dresden.
The course is coordinated by Dr. Monika Diecke from the International Office of Technische Universität Dresden and Kirsten Reuter-Skrypnik from TUDIAS. We wish all participants a successful start!

🗣️ Discover a new language at the "Haus der Sprachen"!

The MSZ library in the Haus der Sprachen (SE1) hosted a special language taster event as part of the Interkulturelle Tage Dresden (Interkulterelle Tage) organized by Landeshauptstadt Dresden
Participants had the opportunity to explore German, English, French, Spanish or Chinese in short, 30-minute introductory sessions led by experienced language facilitators.
Whether taking your very first steps in a language or discovering something new as an advanced learner, the motto was simple: no pressure – just curiosity, fun and intercultural exchange!

🍂 Unser Herbstkurs ist vorbei! 🇩🇪✨
Vom 31. August bis 25. September wurde bei uns fleißig Deutsch gelernt: In 3 Kursen haben circa 50 Teilnehmende die Niveaus A1 bis B2 besucht.
🌍 Unsere Teilnehmenden kamen aus Indien, Südkorea, Taiwan, Polen, Irland, Finnland, Georgien, Spanien, Syrien, Frankreich und Großbritannien – so international war es bei uns!
Besonders im September durften wir viele Erasmus-Studierende bei uns begrüßen. Für sie war der Kurs eine tolle Gelegenheit, in anzukommen, erste Kontakte zu knüpfen und gleichzeitig ihre Deutschkenntnisse zu verbessern. 🗣️📚
Auch einige Teilnehmende des DAAD KOSPIE India Programme, das vom DAAD Worldwide in Kooperation mit der TU Dresden unterstützt wird, waren Teil unseres Herbstkurses. 🇮🇳🇩🇪
Aber Deutschlernen fand nicht nur im Klassenzimmer statt! 🏛️🌳 Im Rahmen unserer Nachmittagsexkursionen konnten die Teilnehmenden Landeshauptstadt Dresden entdecken und dabei Kultur, Geschichte und Stadtleben kennenlernen. Auf dem Programm standen unter anderem das Deutsches Hygiene-Museum Deutsche Hygiene-Museum Dresden, die Technische Sammlungen Dresden und Schloss Albrechtsberg Dresden | Eventlocation sowie verschiedene Stadtführungen durch Dresden. 🏰🚶‍♀️
Wir freuen uns über die vielen Begegnungen, neuen Perspektiven und gemeinsamen Erlebnisse – und wünschen allen weiterhin eine schöne Zeit in Dresden! 💛

Namaste & herzlich willkommen in Dresden!

This September, we at TUDIAS are once again delighted to welcome students from India to as part of the India program.

Supported by (Deutscher Akademischer Austauschdienst) and hosted in cooperation with TU Dresden, the program gives students from the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) the opportunity to gain valuable academic and research experience in Germany and work on projects related to their master’s theses.

Their stay in begins with an intensive German language course with TUDIAS at the , complemented by cultural and social activities that offer opportunities to discover Dresden, experience German culture and connect with their new teams.

For us, international exchange is about more than academic collaboration. It is about building connections, sharing perspectives and learning from one another. 🌍

We wish our guests from an exciting, enriching and memorable time in — and we are very happy to accompany them on this part of their academic journey!

A celebration of diversity, tolerance, and community in the heart of .

For the 10th year, a massive picnic was organized by the Cellex Stiftung in the city center to showcase the welcoming spirit of Dresden.
Volunteer organizations, universities, government agencies, and cultural groups offered up delicious treats and shared their values and missions with residents and tourists alike.

Along with our sister companies, FSA Fremdsprachen-Akademie and Dresden International University (DIU), we took the opportunity to share sandwiches and tapas with students and partners who stopped by to network under (mostly) blue skies with the beautiful Frauenkirche in the background.

Our bravest visitors even tried the Australian delight, VEGEMITE, with some even pretending to enjoy it! ;)

As a language school and , it is our mission to bring the world closer together. Through language learning, cultural experiences, and granting access to university studies abroad, we here at TUDIAS live this mission every day. Though usually with less calories than a marshmallow & peanut butter sandwich...

Let's do it again next year. But that mission continues with our work each and every day.

Von der Insel Taiwan an die Ufer der Elbe

In diesem Sommer durften wir bei TUDIAS eine engagierte Gruppe von Studierenden aus begrüßen. Vier intensive Wochen lang verbesserten sie ihre Deutschkenntnisse und erlebten die deutsche Kultur aus erster Hand.

Ermöglicht wurde der Aufenthalt durch die großzügige Unterstützung des Chinesisch-Deutschen Kultur- & Wirtschaftsverbandes sowie von Prof. Charlotte Han, Ehrenpräsidentin des Verbandes. Ihr Engagement für den internationalen Austausch schafft wertvolle Chancen für junge Menschen und stärkt die Beziehungen zwischen unseren Ländern.

Im Laufe von 120 Unterrichtsstunden erwarben die Teilnehmenden Sprachzertifikate auf den Niveaustufen A1 bis B2 – ein Leistungsumfang, der etwa 4 ECTS-Punkten im Hochschulkontext entspricht.

Doch das Lernen fand nicht nur im Unterricht statt: Auf dem Programm standen Besuche einiger der bekanntesten Dresdner Museen, darunter das Deutsche Hygiene-Museum (Deutsches Hygiene-Museum ) und die Gemäldegalerie Alte Meister, Ausflüge in die Porzellanstadt Meißen und in die beeindruckende Felsenlandschaft der Sächsischen Schweiz sowie – wenn das Sommerwetter mitspielte – entspannte Stopps in traditionellen Biergärten.

Gerade in einer Zeit, in der internationale Verständigung wichtiger denn je ist, sind solche interkulturellen Begegnungen von unschätzbarem Wert. Wir sind stolz darauf, talentierte, motivierte und neugierige junge Menschen aus aller Welt bei TUDIAS willkommen zu heißen und freuen uns darauf, auch in Zukunft Brücken zwischen Kulturen durch Sprache und Bildung zu bauen.

Another semester of language learning in the TUDSprachenzentrum at TU Dresden is coming to an end.
17 languages, 5000 students, 84 teachers from around the globe, thousands of exams (which need corrections), and plenty of learning fun.
We wish all of our students and teachers a summer full of rest and relaxation, wonderful travels and memories, and look forward to seeing you all in October for the winter semester!

Eine Jahr investieren, ein Zukunft gewinnen!
Mit großer Freude haben wir am vergangenen Freitag unseren Studienkollegiatinnen und -kollegiaten aus dem M-, T- und W-Kurs nach den erfolgreich bestandenen Prüfungen in einer festlichen und fröhlichen Atmosphäre ihr Feststellungszeugnis überreicht. 67 junge Menschen aus 16 verschiedenen Ländern haben diesen Lebensabschnitt eindrucksvoll gemeistert, einige mit dem traumhaften Durchschnitt von 1,0, 1,1 oder 1,3. Viele von ihnen gehen nun an die um im Oktober ihr Studium zu beginnen.

Das TUDIAS-Team gratuliert Ihnen von ganzem Herzen zu dieser tollen Leistung! Wir sind stolz darauf, dass wir Sie auf diesem Weg begleiten und Ihnen hilfreich zur Seite stehen konnten.

The newest group of Mongolian students arrived in this week! After getting settled in, they will attend a few months of intensive German language courses to brush up their skills and ensure they are well-prepared to start their studies in the fall. Split between the T-kurs (for technical fields) and M-kurs (medicine and biology), these students will spend two semesters studying subjects like math, physics, biology, and computer science in order to pass our internal FSP (Feststellungsprüfung) exam. With that certificate, they will then have the qualifications they need to attend a public university in Germany. These students have specific plans to attend and enter degree programs in Informatics, Geodäsie, Chemistry, Mathematics, Landschaftsarchitektur, Maschinenbau. Let’s wish them all the best of luck here in Dresden and we’ll be sure to provide them the guidance they need to succeed!

Sometimes the Best Classroom Has No Walls 🌿📚

Classrooms provide structure, resources, and an environment designed for learning. Our campus at the WTC Dresden does just that, in addition to offering a ping-pong table, a supermarket and two bakeries, and easy access with public transport.

At the same time, occasionally taking lessons outdoors can offer a valuable change of pace and create meaningful learning opportunities.

For a biology class of our M-Kurs, nature provides a chance to connect theory with observation. Instead of only discussing ecosystems, biodiversity, or plant adaptations, students can explore these concepts in the beautiful surroundings of Saxon Switzerland along the Elbe River. Seeing biological processes firsthand helps reinforce what is learned in the classroom.

Outdoor settings can also enrich language learning, for example this group of A2 learners from our Spring & Summer Courses. German lessons outside encourage students to describe their surroundings, ask questions, and engage in conversations inspired by what they experience. Dresden’s historic center and natural surroundings provide the perfect backdrops for long walks and lessons-on-the-go for our curious learners.

This contextual learning can make vocabulary and communication feel more natural.

Beyond the subject matter, spending time outdoors can:
🌱 Refresh students’ attention and motivation.
🚶 Encourage movement during the school day.
🤝 Promote collaboration through shared activities.
🌿 Strengthen students’ connection to the natural environment.

Sometimes, a change of environment is all it takes to see familiar subjects from a new perspective.
