FabLab OWL - Detmold

Hallo!

Das Sommersemester 2019 geht langsam zu Ende und wir sind sehr froh, dass unser Instrument-Workshop sehr erfolgreich war. Wir haben mehr Teilnehmer als im letzten Semester und wir bauen nicht nur Gitarre sondern auch Ukulele und Basstrommel.

The the Summer Semester 2019 is coming to a close and we are really happy about our successful instrument workshop this semester. We have more participants than last semester and not only we have built guitars but also ukuleles and drum bass.

As every semester we have a lot going on in FabLab shortly before the final submission. For this reason, schedule your projects well and double check your files!

Wie jedes Semester ist wieder einiges los im FabLab kurz vor den Präsentationen. Aus diesem Grund kommt es leider gerade zu längeren Wartezeiten für Termine. Plant das also für eure Projekte mit ein und vergesst nicht eure Dateien zu überprüfen!

[OpenLab Toys Workshop]

Hi everyone,

Due to holidays we haven't really started the Toys Workshop. So we will offer an extra meeting on next Tuesday 11.06 at 5pm in FabLab Detmold. Feel free to join and please spread the words to your friends and colleagues who might also have interest on digital fabrication.

What can you do there?
The goal of the workshop is to design and fabricate Open Source Toys - for personal hobbies or for a good purpose like donate to the kids in the region. Those toys are meant to be designed, uploaded digitally onto an open source database and then ready to be downloaded to make a later fabrication in any FabLab around the world.

At the workshop you can create your own basic element or download it free from an online platform and then edit it and create any toy you can imagine.

An Open-Source DIY Workshop for Toys Design

Was kann man machen?
Man kann die Basisblöcke erstellen und mit ihnen einfach ein individuelles Spielzeug nach eigenen Vorstellungen entwerfen.

What can you do?
You can create your own basic blocks and with them you can easily design and create any toy you can imagine.

Seid ihr musikbegeistert? Spielt ihr Gitarre/ Ukulele/ Trommel... und möchtet auch euer eigenes Musikinstrument bauen? Dann kommt zu uns ins FabLab und macht mit. Dieses Semester gibt es wieder ein Musikinstrument-Workshop im OpenLab.

Zusätzlich bieten Workshops, Events und wöchentliche Treffen Gelegenheiten, sich auszutauschen, voneinander zu lernen und gemeinsam Neues zu schaffen.

Das OpenLab öffnet sich für alle Studenten, Schüler und auch für die Öffentlichkeit, die handwerklich, gestalterisch und technisch interessiert sind.

What is FabLab OWL?

FabLab in Detmold is a technical prototyping platform for students and community that provides opportunities for learning and innovation: a place to play, to create, to learn, to mentor, to invent. FabLab means connecting to a global community of learners, educators, technologists, researchers, makers and innovators. FabLab can be found in 30 countries. All FabLabs share common tools and processes, the program is building a global network, a distributed laboratory for research and invention.

At Detmolder Schule für Architektur und Innenarchitektur we inspire students and the community in OWL to turn their ideas into new products and prototypes by giving them access to a range of advanced digital manufacturing technology such as: 3D Printer, CNC Machine, Laser cutter, Cutting plotter with the support from the FabLab Team.

FabLab is open for students at the Detmolder Schule für Architektur und Innenarchitektur from Monday to Friday, from 10am to 1pm and 2pm to 4pm. For the community we offer our service on every Friday from 5pm to 8pm.

For the students we offer machine introduction course every week. The register lists are at the entrance from FabLab in Building 4 - Bülowblock, first floor. Furthermore, you should make an appointment if you want to use FabLab service.
