Thursday June 29. Trip to München to visit the concentration camp in the suburb of Dachau. Much to learn about life’s lessons here. Over 40,000 murdered at this camp alone. It was one of the first camps and it’s rules of inhumane torture were used as a model for the rest of the camps built later.
Never forget….never again. NIE WIEDER !!!

Tuesday June 27. BMW factory tour! Amazing day! Saw all of the cars being built from the press factory to the paint shop to the assembly line. Unfortunately for trade secret reasons, no photos weee allowed. The ones I have are from the outside, the actual production pics are stock from the internet!! 😂

Monday June 26. Group trip with our partners to the City of Passau. Passau is in the southeast corner of the country and borders Austria. It is also where 3 different rivers come together!! We were treated to a concert from Europes largest pipe organ. Then we did a scavenger hunt and went home.

Sorry for the late post. Friday we were guests in a 9th grade English class. They had some great questions!!!

Day 4. Coming home. On the way home we stopped in Heidelberg! First stop was the castle. We used a vernacular to get up there. Then we toured the city and had lunch on our own before setting off back to Dingolfing.

Day 3. We took a chairlift up the hill behind the Hotel and then a little hike along the Rhine River. Along the way we stopped by the Niederwalddenkmal. This was a monument to commemorate the original unification of Germany from small kingdoms into one county under the rule of Kaiser Wilhelm the first. The large figure at the top is lady Germania. Then we took another gondola ride down the mountain and visited the city of Rüdesheim. Took an small boat ride back to Assmannshausen and called it a day!!

Day 2 stop in Köln (Cologne). Today we stopped in one of Germanys biggest and oldest cities. This town was created by the Romans as a place to garrison their soldiers as they used the Rhine River as a highway. The first stop was the cathedral which took 800 years to complete. Thankfully it was mainly untouched during WW2 and looks awesome. The pictures don’t do it justice in terms of how ginormous it is. Actually it is the second largest in Europe. After that we all went and explored the rest of the city.

Day 2. On the way to Köln (Cologne) we
Drove along the Rhein River. Here are some of the castles we passed along the way!!

Day 1 of the side trip. First stop along the way was lunch in Regensburg! Some us are at the Wurstküche which is where the sausage was invented. Then back on the highway to our hotel along the Rhein river in Assmannshausen.

When we met with the Landrat (County Commissioner), there was a reporter there and here is the newspaper write up. The title reads.. “Help, the Americans are coming!” 🤦‍♂️
