Liebe Eltern,
willkommen beim Junior Language Club JLC in Düsseldorf!

🇩🇪 Happy German Unity Day! 🇩🇪

Today, we celebrate Tag der Deutschen Einheit — a day that reminds us of the importance of coming together, building bridges, and embracing what connects us.

As a language school, we know that language brings people together. Every new word learned is a small step towards understanding another person, another culture, and another perspective. 🌍💬

From all of us at JLC, we wish our students, families and community a very Happy German Unity Day! ❤️

This week, our students explored the topic of weather and discovered how rainbows are formed through a simple hands-on experiment.

With just a glass of water, a sunny spot and a blank sheet of paper, they were able to create their very own rainbow! 🔬✨

A little science, a little sunshine, and a colourful way to bring our English learning to life. 🌦️

🎨 Art, movement & Keith Haring! 🕺

Our students explored the life and work of Keith Haring, discovering how his bold lines, playful figures and instantly recognisable style transformed public spaces and contemporary art.

Inspired by Haring’s work, they created their own colourful artworks while learning how art can communicate ideas, emotions and stories without needing lots of words. ✨

A creative lesson with plenty of movement, imagination and, of course, lots of lines!

What better way to get back into learning than by heading outside for a colourful nature scavenger hunt? 🔍🌿

Our students explored their surroundings, searched for different colours in nature, and turned a little outdoor adventure into a fun learning activity.

Back to lessons, back to exploring, and back to making English part of the fun! 💚

This week, our students explored Rangoli art, learning about its cultural meaning, the creative process, and the idea of creating something beautiful that is only temporary.

After learning about meditation and impermanence, they designed their own Rangoli-inspired artwork — and some students took the concept very seriously! 😄

Once they had finished, they destroyed their creations completely, embracing the idea that sometimes the most important part of creating something is knowing when to let it go. ✨

🐛 Mini-Beast Week at JLC! 🐝

This week at camp, we got up close with the tiny creatures that make our world so interesting! 🌱🔍

Our campers explored the world of mini-beasts through a mix of fun activities, creative worksheets, games and hands-on learning. And, of course, we couldn’t finish the week without making something a little bit… deliciously disgusting. 😄

Learning English, getting creative and having a little fun with creepy crawlies along the way!
