If you've always wanted to start studying Buddhism but didn't know where to start, now is the time! On May 18th we start the most fundamental ACI Course 1: THE PRINCIPAL TEACHINGS OF BUDDHISM. All subsequent Courses elaborate upon the ideas presented in this Course.
📚ACI 1 Topics include: what is a qualified teacher, how to take a lama, what is Buddha nature, what is authentic Dharma, what are samsara and renunciation, the principles of karma, the problems of human life, bodhichitta and its benefits, how to generate bodhichitta, the two levels of reality, what is the correct view of emptiness according to each of the four schools of thought, and the relationship between karma and emptiness.
This Course is an excellent overview of the entire Buddhist path based upon The Three Principal Paths (Lamtso Namsum) by Je Tsongkapa (1357-1419), also known as Je Rinpoche Lobsang Drakpa, with the commentary of Pabongka Rinpoche (1878-1941).
Je Tsongkapa was perhaps the single greatest commentator in the 2,500 year history of Buddhism. He was born in the district of Tsongka in eastern Tibet, and took his first vows at a tender age. As a teenager he had already mastered much of the teachings of Buddhism, and was sent by his tutors to study at the great monastic universities of Central Tibet. Here he studied under the leading Buddhist scholars of his day. It is said as well that he enjoyed mystic visions in which he met and learned from the different forms of the Buddha himself. Now we have an amazing chance to receive teachings of this great master in an accurate, accessible and relevant way.💎
📍We invite you to join us in this journey. Timothy Lowenhaupt will lead us through teachings of this Course. We will have 10 classes starting on May 18th till June 18th. Translations to Vietnamese, Indonesian and Romanian will be available. Our goal is to make the teachings accessible to everyone, regardless of financial capacity. The ACI 1 Course is FREE for everyone.
