Did you know that we have been talking about volcanic fiber 🌋 for 15 years now?!
The worldwide first volcanic fiber sailing boat prototype ⛵was the Open16 FIPOFIX built in 2012, it sailed 3 transatlantic records 🏆.
Volcanic 🌋fiber??? What?
This means:
1) take several mineral rocks with different mechanical properties,
2) run analysis for their compositions,
3) grind them and mix them together, in an “secret recipe”,
4) melt 🔥 🌡️the mix and
5) get fibers 😀
The result is a fiber which matches the clients demands and has also unique properties like:
• Hydrophobic (no osmosis) 🌊
• Extreme UV and heat resistance 🌞 🌡️
• Extreme shock resistance and shock absorption 💪
• Very hard surface,
• Recyclable ♻️
• Very low environmental impact 🌎💚
This brings us to more safety 💪, performance and sustainability 🌎♻️💚 in a construction, compared to other common composite materials.

Building and using fully sustainable and recyclable ♻️ yachts⛵ is what we all should do!
But this should additionally be combined with technical solutions which allow also operating a yacht only with renewable energy from wind 🌬️, water 🌊 and sun 🌞!
As we know that the footprint of a common yacht during operation is catastrophic 🙈😬, we see this topic at least with the same importance as our clean and responsible yacht building program.
This means, you shouldn’t miss modern comfort like an oven or hairdryer but if you use these items with power from renewable resources, you make a positive impact 💚🌎 while spending great time in nature 🐟🐠.
To be as future pointing as possible we also run our small but constant laboratory 🧪🧐 verifying new materials and technical solutions which help us becoming more and more efficient in what we are doing!

Today we talk about Eco-design ⛵🌿
The efficient design of a vessel’s hull shape is crucial for minimizing its environmental impact for several reasons:
1. Reducing resistance: An aerodynamic and hydrodynamic design minimizes resistance in the water, meaning the vessel requires less energy to move through the water. This results in lower fuel consumption, leading to reduced greenhouse gas emissions and pollutants being released into the atmosphere. In the case of boats with electric propulsion, this factor helps to achieve the best performance in the autonomy of the boat. ⛽🪫
2. Enhancing energy efficiency: By optimizing the vessel’s shape to reduce resistance and maximize efficiency, higher energy efficiency in navigation is achieved. This not only cuts operational costs but also decreases the vessel’s carbon footprint. ⚡
3. Less impact on marine ecosystems: By lowering resistance and enhancing efficiency, disturbance to the water and surrounding marine ecosystems is minimized. This helps protect marine life and preserve the health of aquatic ecosystems. 🌊🐠🐳🐬🪸
In conclusion, an efficient hull shape design not only enhances performance and efficiency but also significantly contributes to reducing a vessel’s
environmental impact, fostering more sustainable practices in the maritime industry. 💡💚

🇬🇧 3R – Reduce ❌ – Reuse 🔧 – Recycle♻️
An environmentally friendly approach 🌎 💚 for every usage are the 3R - Reduce – Reuse – Recycle!
It’s valid as well as for boat building, as the construction of our shipyard or our daily life!
1) We are doing everything to prevent ❌ to buy new or produce something which we don’t need or where there is already something available.
2) When we have already something we are trying to keep it, to repair 🔧 it to continue using it.
3) And when the two previously named solutions are not possible, we are recycling ♻️ it, to recover materials to make something new out of it.
A sample for what we are regularly using in boat building ⛵, is a cutout from a deck panel, which might be reuse as a reinforcement plate under deck equipment like a block or a padeye.
So, the cutout is not thrown away and I don’t need new material for the reinforcement.
Another sample from the construction 🏗️ of our shipyard is the reuse of styrofoam blocks which were delivered as protection for our wall panels. Instead of letting the construction teams throwing them into the garbage bin, we collected them, stored them and now the get a second life as the floor insulation of our reception.
So waste is avoided as well as resources for the making of new insulation material.
What are you reducing – reusing – recycling in your daily life or in your job 🤔💚🌊🌎?
Was reduzierst - wiederverwendest - recycelst du in deinem täglichen Leben oder in deinem Beruf 🤔💚🌊🌎?
