🚀✨ Suit up for the stars! ✨🚀

Swipe to see my first official photoshoot in the iconic blue flight suit—an unforgettable milestone in my journey during the first session of the Astronaut Reserve Training (ART). From training on Earth to dreaming of the cosmos, every step feels closer to the infinite possibilities beyond our atmosphere.

Shoutout to the European Space Agency (ESA) for paving the way for aspiring space explorers like me and inspiring the next generation of space dreamers! 🌍💫

📸 Pro tip: Whether you’re dreaming big or reaching for the stars, every journey begins with a bold first step (and sometimes even with a great outfit 😉).

Which pose do you think looks the best?

🚀✨ Bereit für die Sterne! ✨🚀

Why is SCUBA diving important for astronauts?

Underwater training provides an unparalleled way to simulate weightlessness. Just like in space, you need to master:

▶ Neutral buoyancy — the delicate art of neither floating nor sinking, mirroring the sensation of microgravity.

▶ Team coordination — working seamlessly with others when communication and visibility are limited.

▶ Problem-solving under pressure — reacting calmly to unexpected situations in an environment that demands precision and composure.

I was maybe a bit more excited than necessary diving in the NBF... But honestly: How often does one get the chance to dive with the amazing and his team? (big shoutout to my buddy Julia!👌)

For me, this experience was a reminder of how much exploration—whether in the deep blue or the cosmos—relies on trust, focus, and collaboration.

„Als würde man im Weltall schweben!“ 🌊✨

Warum tauchen Astronaut:innen eigentlich? 🤔

(Grüße an meinen Buddy Julia!) 🙌

Two Years of Reaching for the Stars! 🚀🌍

Two years ago, the European Space Agency (ESA) made history by selecting 17 individuals from over 22,500 applicants across its Member States to form the 2022 ESA Astronaut Class. This milestone brings talent, diversity, and ambition to the forefront of space exploration! 🌌✨

 The Class of 2022 includes:
🌟 5 astronaut candidates
🌟 12 members of the European Astronaut Reserve

🗣️ “This ESA astronaut class is bringing ambition, talent, and diversity in many forms to drive our endeavors and our future,” said ESA Director General Josef Aschbacher.

From continuing missions on the International Space Station to stepping boldly toward the Moon – and beyond, this class is ready to inspire a new era of exploration. 🌙🌠

What’s new? 💡
For the first time, ESA created a reserve pool of astronauts—those who excelled in the selection process but can’t be recruited just yet. They’re ready to step in as needed, with the first reserve group already starting the Astronaut Reserve Training at the European Astronaut Centre in Cologne, Germany this October! Amelie Schoenenwald is among those pioneering this incredible future. 💪✨

And breaking barriers?
ESA’s “Fly!” program is exploring options for including astronauts with physical disabilities in future missions.

🌟 Celebrate this milestone with us!
