CCD Moves into Its New Home

After more than ten years of planning and preparation, the time has finally come: this summer, the Centre for Contemporary Dance (CCD) is leaving its studios, seminar rooms, and offices in Cologne-Nippes and moving into its new building, located just a short walk from the university’s main campus. Designed by HPP Architects, the new facility will house dance studios, a new studio theatre, seminar rooms, practice studios, and a multifunctional performance space for interdisciplinary use - bringing dance even closer to music, artistic research, and digital innovation at the HfMT Cologne.

From October onwards, the CCD will be located at Dagobertstraße 39. The new building will welcome its first audiences on October 1, 2, and 9, with three performances of „unfolded no. 15“.

The official opening, accompanied by an extensie artistic programme, will follow in December. We look forward to welcoming you to our new home!

Das ZZT zieht um

Nach mehr als 10 Jahren Vorbereitung und Planung ist es in diesem Sommer so weit: das Zentrum für Zeitgenössischen Tanz verlässt seine Studios, Seminar- und Büroräume in Köln-Nippes und zieht in den Neubau unweit des Stammhauses der Hochschule. Das vom Architekturbüro HPP Architekten geplante Gebäude wird Tanzstudios, ein neues Studiotheater, Seminarräume, Überäume und einen interdisziplinär nutzbaren Veranstaltungssaal beherbergen - womit Tanz, Musik, künstlerische Forschung und digitale Innovation an der HfMT auch räumlich noch näher zusammen rücken.

Ab Oktober ist das ZZT in der Dagobertstraße 39 zu finden. Bespielt wird das Gebäude erstmals am 1., 2. und 9. Oktober mit den drei Vorstellungen von „unfolded no. 15“.

Die offizielle Einweihung mit umfangreichem künstlerischem Programm folgt im Dezember. Wir freuens uns darauf, Sie/Euch in unserem neuen Gebäude willkommen zu heißen!

Stella Moretti Receives Dance Studies Research Fellowship 2026

We are delighted to announce that the Equal Opportunities Commission of the Cologne University of Music and Dance (HfMT Köln) and the Center for Contemporary Dance (CCD), in collaboration with the

German Dance Archive Cologne, have awarded the 2026 Research Scholarship in the amount of €3,000 to Stella Moretti.
In her research project “The Margins of Dance: Bodies, Gender, and Circulations (1918–1935),” Stella Moretti examines choreographic and performative practices in the eastern border region of France between the two World Wars.

Wir freuen uns sehr, bekannt zu geben, dass die Gleichstellungskommission der HfMT Köln und das Zentrum für Zeitgenössischen Tanz (ZZT) in Zusammenarbeit mit dem Deutschen Tanzarchiv Köln das Forschungsstipendium 2026 in Höhe von 3.000 € an Stella Moretti vergeben.

In ihrem Forschungsprojekt „The Margins of Dance: Bodies, Gender, and Circulations (1918–1935)“ untersucht Stella Morettichoreografischen und performativen Praktiken im östlichen Grenzraum Frankreichs zwischen den beiden Weltkriegen.

On 1, 2 and 9 October, the new building of the Centre for Contemporary Dance / Cologne University of Music and Dance will become a performance space for the first time with the 15th edition of unfolded, featuring two contemporary dance works. „Circulating Resonances“ (Choreography: Jan Burkhardt) explores sound, movement and architecture as a space of resonance, while „CURRENT“ (Choreography: Wencke Kriemer de Matos) investigates the invisible forces that connect us to one another.

Am 1., 2. & 9. Oktober wird der Neubau des ZZT/HfMT Köln mit der 15. Ausgabe von unfolded erstmal mit zwei tanzkünstlerischen Arbeiten bespielt. „Circulating Resonances“ (Choreografie: Jan Burkhardt) erkundet Klang, Bewegung und Architektur als Resonanzraum, während „CURRENT“ (Choreografie: Wencke Kriemer de Matos) nach den unsichtbaren Kräften fragt, die unserem Weg eine Richtung geben.

Congratulations to and on getting the 2026 Crossover Scholarship! The decision-making process involved Andreas Schmitz, Chairman of the KunstSalon Foundation KunstSalon e.V. , Silvia Ehnis Perez Duarte, Artistic Director & Curator of TANZRESIDENZ im Quartier am Hafen Atelierhaus Quartier am Hafen , and Vera Sander, Head of the BA Dance program at the HfMT. The scholarship includes financial support of €1,500 as well as 12 months of orientation, advice, and support with communication strategies, work processes, and building a professional network.
