What should a business degree look like in 2030? 🤔 On 15 and 16 October, we’re welcoming academic leaders, faculty and employers from across Europe to Cologne to find out, together with the IACBE.

Why does this matter to you? Because it’s all about how you learn, what skills you’ll need and what employers will expect from you when you graduate. AI is changing how students learn and how lecturers teach, so we’ll be asking one big question: are we ready? 🤖

While the summit is aimed at academic leaders and employers, some of our students will join the roundtable to share their own experiences with business projects and our alumni will share what really made the difference when starting their careers.

Sustainability at Scale with DHL 🚚🌍 Katharina Tomoff, SVP Global Environment, Social & Governance at DHL Supply Chain, joined our CBS Guest Lecture Series, hosted by Prof. Dr. Ulrich Anders.

Her focus: making global logistics greener while keeping it operationally and economically viable. The approach? Burn less, burn cleaner. Smarter networks and route optimisation come first, followed by cleaner alternatives such as electricity, sustainable fuels and hydrogen. Since there is no one-size-fits-all solution, factors like range, infrastructure and the „green premium“ decide what works in practice.
Katharina’s motto: „We will do something, we will not wait.“ 💪

„ Prep4University helped me find my path.“ 🧭 That’s how our international students describe their experience with our Studienkolleg Prep4University. And it says a lot about what this programme actually does.

Most of them arrived with more questions than answers. New country, new language, and a new university system. It all sounds overwhelming at first. But what our students found was support that carried them through all of it: professors who motivate rather than just teach, and a team that stays with them all the way from „I have no idea what to do“ to an admission letter for the degree they actually wanted.

The result? A transition that feels manageable instead of overwhelming. If you’re at that starting point right now: the path exists. And you don’t have to find it on your own. 💪

We asked our first-years to sum up N’StiP in one word and the fun counter went through the roof. 📈
N’StiP is a day for new students at our Campus Cologne, where first-years get to know each other, team up and kick off their studies together. Turns out that’s exactly what starting uni at CBS is about: a day of sport, laughter and new friends from every corner of the world, right from day one. 🌍

Say hello to Luuk, who swapped Germany for Oslo and spent his semester abroad at Kristiania University of Applied Sciences. ❄️

Living in his own SIO flat with a shared kitchen, right in a lively student area close to the city centre, he settled in quickly. On campus, he was drawn to Entrepreneurial Management and Finance as well as Social Entrepreneurship. Courses that included company visits and real-world projects, and gave him the chance to connect with students from all over the world. Between lectures, he made time for fjord-side saunas, skiing trips and long walks through a city that turned out to be easy to explore on foot.

„My advice would be to try to get involved in as much as possible during your time there, make some local and international friends, and be open to experiencing different cultures.“

Still weighing up whether a semester abroad is worth it? Luuk’s time in Oslo speaks for itself. 🌍

This is what months of hard work look like in the end 🎓

Our Bachelor’s, Master’s and MBA graduates of the Class of 2026 received their certificates and the moment the hats went up says more than any speech could.

Some of you are starting your first job this autumn. Some are launching a business, some are moving on to the next degree, and some are still working out what comes next. Wherever you go from here, you leave with a network, a community and a place at CBS you can always come back to.

Guest Lecture with Gaffel Brewery 🍺 We were delighted to welcome Heinrich Philipp Becker of Gaffel Brewery to our CBS Guest Lecture Series, hosted by Prof. Dr. Ulrich Anders.

In his energetic and inspiring session, Heinrich Philipp tackled a fascinating question: How do you grow in a shrinking market? With around 4,000 breweries in Germany, rising costs and increasing competition (not just from other brands, but from streaming, gaming and social media competing for people’s time) the German b**r market is under real pressure.

His answer? Think entrepreneurially, challenge established business models, know your numbers, build emotional relevance and have the courage to create new products and new markets. But the most powerful takeaway was this: strategy and numbers matter, but ultimately it is people who make the difference.
