A few years ago, I was working with an athlete who suddenly stopped in the middle of a session, looked me straight in the eyes, and asked:

“Do you actually know what this feels like?”

It was one of those moments where theory and textbooks aren’t enough. What mattered was being able to connect, to reflect honestly, and to draw on the experiences of others who had been in similar situations.

That’s why I believe so strongly in learning together as a community. And that’s exactly what VASPS2025 is about: creating a space where we don’t just hear polished presentations, but share the tough questions, the messy realities, and the practical strategies that really work.

This year’s sessions will give you that kind of learning:

Insights from who have worked at Olympic Games and World Cups.
Approaches for handling challenges in professional practice and business development.
New perspectives on self-care, culture, mindfulness, and communication.
Every session is designed to leave you with ideas you can take directly into your own practice—so the next time a client asks you a difficult question, you’ll have new ways to respond.

When I think back to my early years in sport psychology,
I often wish I had been able to sit in a room with experienced colleagues and hear their honest stories-what worked for them, what didn’t, and what they had learned along the way.
Back then, finding those insights wasn’t easy.

Interestingly, that’s exactly what many younger colleagues, students, and early-career professionals still tell me today: “I’d just love to sit in and listen—hear how others approach things, what challenges they face, and how they deal with them.”
This year, at VASPS2025 (Sept 17-18), you’ll hear from colleagues working at the Olympic Games, explore meditation and mindfulness in applied settings, learn how to build a professional presence on social media, reflect on self-care as a core professional skill, and more.

When you think about growing as a professional, one of the most important questions is: Who could I learn from?

In my own career, I’ve always looked for mentors and colleagues who combine two things: real-world experience and the willingness to share not just their successes, but also their struggles. That’s the kind of learning that sticks

Prof. Alessandro Quartiroli (USA) – on why self-care is not a luxury but a foundation for ethical, effective practice.

Rather than offering prescriptive solutions, the workshop provides a reflective framework and guiding questions to help practitioners protect their well-being while consistently delivering the highest standards of practice.

I’d love for you to be part of this year’s summit. These two days are designed to give you real, actionable insights you can take back into your work immediately.
