On September 19, the second workshop of the project “Island Memories: Exploring the Intersection of Local and Digital Memory Practices” will take place. The workshop, to be held on the East Frisian island of Spiekeroog, is being organized in cooperation with the local cultural foundation. Participants are invited to take part in a roundtable discussion to share the memories they associate with Spiekeroog and to describe the objects, places, and stories that, for them, belong to the island.

Am 19. September findet der zweite Workshop des Projektes „Inselerinnerungen: Eine Untersuchung lokaler und digitaler Erinnerungspraktiken“ statt. Der Workshop auf der ostfriesischen Insel Spiekeroog wird in Kooperation mit der lokalen Kulturstiftung durchgeführt. Teilnehmende sind dazu eingeladen in einer Gesprächsrunde zu erzählen, welche Erinnerungen sie mit Spiekeroog verbinden und welche Gegenstände, Orte und Geschichten für sie zur Insel gehören.

Rahel Winter won the Best Poster Award at the 11th European Communication Conference (ECC 2026) in Brno. The award was presented during the poster session for early-career researchers, organized by YECREA, the ECREA Young Scholars Network. The audience voted, and Rahel’s poster on her dissertation project about resistance to AI received the most votes.

Der Preis wurde in der Poster-Session für Early-Career-Forschende vergeben, die YECREA, das Young Scholars Network der ECREA, organisiert hat. “Parties and actors on the far right have fewer qualms about exploiting every possible means of communication, even if they are ethically questionable,” says ZeMKI member Prof. Stephanie Geise, referring to the use of AI-generated content in election campaigns.
