🌟 General Assembly at The 9th — speaking, sharing & deciding together!

Our latest BIT meeting wasn’t just Toastmasters as usual: we also held our General Assembly to vote on changes and shape our club together. 🗳️

🎤 The Toastmaster of the Evening, Stephen Wagner, led us through the speaking program, with plenty of memorable moments:

✨ Our guest Karrim Wesley Gupta from Munich Toastmasters delivered “The Distance Between Us” — a reminder to make space in our calendars for the people we love.

🌍 Dominik Kling shared “The Art of Creating Memorable Holiday Memories” — reminding us that sometimes the best way to capture a moment is with our own eyes, not our smartphones.

💬 Our Table Topics Master Klaus Volker Roth challenged six speakers to reflect on health, wealth, joy, passion, home and loneliness. We were especially happy to welcome Celia Edwards, Division Director from District 91 in London, whose heartfelt answer to “What is joy for you?” was one of the memorable moments of the evening.

🏆 Congratulations to our winners:

🥇 Best Speaker — Karrim Wesley Gupta
💬 Best Table Topics — Kelly Achenbach
⭐ Best Evaluator — Hanna Shevchenko

And now over to you: What does joy mean to you personally? 👇

🌿 Kind Moves — a meeting full of speeches, courage, empathy, and good company!

Our latest Bonn International Toastmasters meeting was all about Kind Moves — and even the weather decided to be kind to us. ☀️ Despite the rain before the meeting, we stayed completely dry… and it only started raining again once we had finished. 😄

A special shout-out to Zineb Darkouch, who took on the role of Toastmaster of the Evening for the first time! 🎉 She did a great job guiding us through the evening and keeping everything flowing smoothly.

Our Word of the Day, “Empathy,” was introduced by our guest Mazen — a perfect match for the theme.

🎤 We had two prepared speeches on stage:

Waleed Hassan explored The Physics of Failure, including an important reminder about staying kind to ourselves when things don’t go as planned.

Sushil Jakob took us deeper into the theme with The Underpinnings of Kindness, exploring the evolutionary roots of kindness and its essential role in human collaboration — and why empathy and kindness will remain vital as we continue to evolve together.
His speech also earned him the award for Best Speaker! 🏆

Our Table Topics Master, Simon Wear, challenged us to think on our feet with a round of spontaneous speaking. Our guests Ian and Mazen both dared to step up and give a Table Topics speech themselves. 👏

🏆 Congratulations to our meeting winners:

Best Speaker — Sushil Jakob
Best Evaluator — Oli Ljumani
Best Table Topics Speakers — Stephen Wagner & Dominik Kling

Thank you to everyone who spoke, took on a role, joined us as a guest, or simply brought their energy to the evening. 💙

Another great evening at Bonn International Toastmasters! 🎤✨

This time, we met at the Digital Hub Lounge — and with the summer heat outside, we were especially happy to have an air-conditioned room. It made it even easier to relax, connect and enjoy the meeting.

⚖️ The theme of the evening was “Right or Wrong?”, and our Toastmaster of the Evening, Roland Schulze, guided us professionally through the entire meeting.

This evening, we had two Ice Breakers — the first prepared speech in a Toastmaster’s journey:

🎤 Rajan Yadav – “Jack of All Trades, and Master of None”
🎤 Waleed Hassan – “The Reality Illusion”

And one member took the next step with his second prepared speech:

🎤 Sushil Jacob – “Unmapping the World: How Default Settings Shape What We See”

💭 Our Table Topics Master, Zineb Darkouch, prepared thought-provoking questions around our theme. Speakers shared personal stories about facing dilemmas between right and wrong — or moments when they chose not to follow someone’s advice and later realized that the advice had been right after all.

We were also delighted to welcome the Area Director, Anne Kirschbaum, who supported us as our General Evaluator, provided valuable feedback on the meeting, and even spontaneously joined in for Table Topics! Thank you for visiting us, Anne. We hope to welcome you again soon. 💙

Congratulations to our winners! 🏆

🥇 Best Speaker: Rajan Yadav
🥇 Best Evaluator: Yassir Gharbi
🥇 Best Table Topics Speaker: Anne Kirschbaum

☕🎤 Public speaking in a busy café? Challenge accepted!

What happens when you deliver a speech while conversations, coffee machines, and waiters continue all around you?

At our special Bonn International Toastmasters meeting at Café Spitz, we put our speaking skills to the test in a real-life environment — and our members rose to the challenge! 💪

✨ 14 members and 4 guests stepped up to speak.

Our speeches took us from heartfelt farewells to colleagues, to reconnecting with friends after decades, and even defending our life choices at family gatherings.

🏆 Congratulations to Arlo, who took home both Best Table Topics Speaker and Best Evaluator!

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us for this unique evening. We can’t wait for our next regular meeting on 13 August (location to be announced).

✨ Expecting the Unexpected ✨

Sometimes, the best surprises are the ones you don’t mind at all. 🌦️

We gathered once again in the beautiful Rheinaue, expecting rain... umbrellas were ready, but after just a few tiny drops, nobody even bothered to open one. A perfect start to an evening all about Expecting the Unexpected, led by our Toastmaster of the Evening, Waleed Hassan.

🎤 We enjoyed three inspiring speeches:
🌍 Dominik Kling – The Art of Creating Memorable Vacation Memories
🦘 Simon Wear – What Lies Below the Australian Surface
🎭 Stephen Wagner – whose speech title wasn’t even known until the very last moment! Patrick and Arlo came up with three possible titles, and the audience voted for the winner right before Stephen took the stage.

💬 Our Table Topics Master, Bismark Bernard Awaitey, challenged us with creative impromptu speaking topics and plenty of unexpected moments.

🏆 Congratulations to our winners!
🥇 Best Speakers: Stephen Wagner & Dominik Kling
🥇 Best Evaluator: Catriona Formby
🥇 Best Table Topics Speaker: Harini Ramachandra (Guest) 👏

📅 Join us on July 23!
The location will be announced soon — we hope to see you there!

Congratulations to Rhodah and Bismark on delivering their first Toastmasters speeches! 🎉

✨ We also enjoyed an engaging prepared speech from our experienced member Catriona Formby:
