Throwback Monday 💚

Two years ago, Weddingweiser stopped by to write about our slightly difficult-to-explain little place in Wedding: part language school, part cultural space, part community hub, and always a bit of everything at once.

The article captured something that still feels very true today: Zeitgeist was never meant to be //just// a place to learn German. We wanted to create a space where language, art, culture and community could meet and where people actually feel comfortable being there.

A lot has happened since then, but that idea hasn’t really changed. If anything, we’ve grown further into it.
And we still love the last sentence of the article:

“Zeitgeist Zentrum ist gekommen, um zu bleiben.” 💚
Turns out, they were right.

A little piece of news we haven’t properly shared yet: Zeitgeist Zentrum is now officially part of our local Stadtteilvertretung mensch.müller Stadtteilvertretung (local community council) here in Wedding. 💚

We joined a little over two months ago, and for us this feels like a very natural extension of what Zeitgeist Zentrum has always been about.

Education and community matter to us, but so does political participation.

The Stadtteilvertretung brings together people who live and work in our neighbourhood and gives local concerns a place to be discussed, developed and carried forward. And that means we can also bring your concerns, ideas and experiences into these conversations.

⚫ What is missing in our neighbourhood?
⚫ What makes everyday life unnecessarily difficult?
⚫ What would make Wedding a better place to live, learn and work?
⚫ What issues do you think are not being heard enough?

Tell us. We are happy to carry your voice with us.

This feels especially important right now. On 20 September 2026, Berlin will elect a new Abgeordnetenhaus as well as the Bezirksverordnetenversammlungen (BVV / District Assembly).

And whether you are eligible to vote in these elections or not: your voice still matters. You live here. You work here. You study here. You raise families, build friendships, run businesses and create communities here. Political participation should not begin and end with having the right passport or being able to cast a ballot.

Especially in difficult and increasingly polarised times, we believe it is important not to withdraw, but to participate, speak to each other and help shape the place we live in.

So please: bring us your questions, your frustrations, your ideas and the things you would like to see changed. We’ll do our best to make sure they find their way into the conversation. 💚

Zeitgeist Zentrum is a language school and a community space, but we also want it to be a place where people learn that they can have a say. 💪

About 75% of our lives happen inside this business.
We never wanted to build a business that felt separate from our lives, but rather to create a place we actually enjoy spending time in ~ watering plants, making coffee, moving chairs around, fixing things, staying longer because someone is still talking.
A place where people come to learn German, but stay for conversations. Where teachers become friends, students become part of a community, and an ordinary weekday can turn into dinner, a movie night or a new idea.
If we’re going to spend 75% of our lives somewhere, we want it to be somewhere we care about.
Maybe the goal was never perfect work-life balance, but building a working life we don’t constantly want to escape from.

LATICE Exhibition — what a night.

More than 70 people came together to celebrate art, community, migration, identity, and connection. What happened in this space was something truly special.

This event would never have been possible without the energy, passion, and commitment of over 20 incredible people working behind the scenes. Artists, friends, collaborators, helpers, photographers, organizers — every single person brought something unique.

Thanks to all the hard workers and friends who believed in this vision, we created the most bombastic event this space has ever seen.

This was more than an exhibition.
It was a collective experience.
A meeting point.
A memory.

Thank you to everyone who came, supported, created, danced, documented, helped, and shared this moment with us.
