Yoga is meant to be a “trip” into our internal world where you can learn more about the infinite nature of your consciousness.🥹
This yogic value is often forgotten in the Western view of yoga as a workout because so much of it is externalized; we wonder how we look in a posture, if we are thin enough, or feel the need to compete with others in class 😞.
This is way far from reality ✨
Tell us, what was your ackward or harder experience practicing yoga? 🥲

The journey of the eight limbs of yoga is meant to take us from doing-ness to being-ness 🥰.
Once we have mastered all the former steps, we are able to accomplish the most important face of life that impulse our spiritual journey forward: the ability to stay in the present moment indefinitely❤️.
This does not mean that yogis are meant to stay stagnant. However, yogis who have reached samadhi are detached from the past and future ✨.
When they perform an action, they do not stay on the outcome. All is done with love, and all is done with full presence.

When you cut your senses off from the external world, you are able to dive within the universe that lies inside yourself ❤️
This practice is a revolutionary act in the world we live today. Each time you sit with yourself, you probably combat the harmfulness of constant externalization of the mind via social media, the news, and consumerism (do you feel related? 🤯).
The easiest way to practice Pratyahara is to close your eyes while practicing asana.
Have you ever experience something like this?

Asana is the practice of the yoga postures 🫶
Pantajali (hindu thinker, who probably lived in the s. II) taught the physical practice of yoga as movements that are meant to be done with ease and joy.🙂
He taught that it’s important to take your time with each pose, and move from posture to posture fully present by focusing the mind on the breath 😑👌
Yoga is meant to be done in a relaxed state of mind where you can connect with your body and combating duality in the mind increasing wellness in both of them.
Yoga as a workout can be harmful because it can push students past their own limitations, and it often leads to injury and as you read, yoga postures are not made to be insane and injure you 🫠
If you practice western yoga or you are planning to start going to a studio, try to
keep this in mind 🙏
What's your favourite asana?

It is a positive practice, dedicated to self-purification, that teaches us how to treat ourselves.
The niyamas are 5 and involve self-observation to eliminate bad habits and include positive ones to live fully, consciously and in physical, mental and spiritual balance.
Check out this beautiful information we share with you today 😍👇
✨ Saucha (cleanliness): you become a clear channel for the divine to enter in you
when having pure and positive thoughts about yourself and others.
✨ Santosha (contentment): We live in a capitalistic system in which we’re told to
always strive for and want more, which means we’re never satisfied with what
we already have. When we can just feel complete with how things are in the
present, we are practicing yoga.
✨Tapas (heat): sometimes the process of mastery can be painful, but this pain
can be used to fuel our practice, and allow you to grow and learn from it.
✨ Svadhyaya (self-knowledge): True yoga is a personal process that has
nothing to do with the outside world or how we’re perceived.
✨ Ishvarapranidhana (full surrender to the divine): Yoga asks you to seek a
supreme divine being (whatever that means to you) because it allows you to let
go the need to control everything. When you realize that there are greater forces
in your live, you begin to navigate life with humility.

🤓This post must be a bit long but believe us: is worth it to read🥰
Yama limb includes:
✨ Ahimsa (non-harming): treat and care for others as an extension of you.
✨ Satya (truthfulness): We all have different personalities, depending on who we’re interacting with. Yoga asks you to drop the mask and find your true, authentic self, and to act from this self.
✨ Asteya (non-stealing): respect other people’s energy, time, and resources and create and honor boundaries. This can also be applied to our Earth.
✨ Brahmacharya (abstinence): treat your primal life force as sacred. We all carry sexual energy within us, and yoga asks that rather than spreading it in many directions without thought, we use it in ways that align with the rest of yoga philosophy.
✨ Aparigraha (non-hoarding): we must trust that we always have enough, allowing money, items, and other blessings to flow in and out of our lives with ease.
Save this post to read it every time you need to remind yourself about this limb of yoga 🙏

The original 8 limbs of yoga offer insight into how yoga has been culturally appropriated.
They are meant to be learned in the order they’re listed down here and it’s important to mention that a person must master each step before they continue to the next one.
✨ Yamas
✨ Niyamas
✨ Asana
✨ Pranayama
✨ Pratyahara
✨ Dharana
✨ Dhyana
✨ Samadhi
As you can appreciate in this amazing drawing, the first 2 limbs of yoga (which are to be mastered first) are more about how you live (the roots) than how you exercise. The rest of the limbs teach you how to practice yoga in your physical body and mind.
In the following post we will be getting deep into each one of them... is going to be a magical trip 😍.
Keep posted ❤️

Now a days thinking about yoga means: images of thin, non-disabled white women in tight brand-name yoga pants, isn’t it? 🤨
1️⃣ Yoga as a workout is problematic because it’s harmful for those who live outside India and see their heritage being sold and used for only esthetics.
2️⃣ Yoga studios are mostly created and owned by rich white people.
3️⃣ Yoga studios tend to enforce many harmful ideas, such as diet culture, q***r erasure, classism, and cultural appropriation.
So how do we combat all this? 🤯
We must start by learning the history of yoga and its 8 limbs, and apply them to our lives.
Checking the link in our Bio, you’ll find our free introductory courses to start getting deep into this beautiful practice, and, in the next post you'll be getting more information about the AUTHENTIC PRACTICE OF YOGA 😍.

Yoga in the Western world: Long story short....
1️⃣ A few gurus, namely Tirumalai Krishnamacharya and Paramahansa
Yogananda, brought the knowledge of yoga from India to the United
States.
2️⃣ Yoga was still a silly practice till 1960s when the hippie movement
adopted a Hindu symbology and brought it into the mainstream American
consciousness.
3️⃣ And here is when it come Beatles to this story: It wasn’t too long after the
band traveled to India that yoga found itself deep in the capitalist-
industrial-complex, where American corporations saw how much money
could be made off of yoga being branded as “chic.”
This is when yoga was packaged as a luxury workout rather than a spiritual
belief system🙃.
We are here, at AzanaYogaBrand to decolonize yoga, and in our next post, we
will be explaining you why this is important.
Did you know about the relationship between beatles and yoga? 🤔
