Summer camp 2015

African Women and Youth Organization (AWYO) is a non-governmental organization with offices in Germany and Nigeria committed to educating, equipping and empowering African women and young people to effectively create the desired positive change within their communities and serve as active players in decision making process of their communities. This is achieved through series of local and international programs, one of which is our annual spring and summer camp (slated for April and August) organize in partnership with the department of European masters in childhood studies and children’s right at Free University Berlin Germany and Colorado College in USA.
AWYO believes that educational camp should be more than an alternate strategy for raising revenues and no longer be viewed simply as places for children to ‘decompress ‘ and have fun as is evident in most camp programs, rather we believe in utilization of these same fun and activities to produce highly effective alternative learning models. We join the educators around the world in using camp as alternative learning models and we believe it should be an integral part of the ongoing educational reform process around the globe.
It is on this platform that AWYO is organizing a 10 days camp in Germany and USA in August 2015 to address the following;
1. Development of interdependence skills in young people and promote cultural tolerance while encouraging and building team spirit in a healthy, competitive environment.
2. Aid the development of quality youth leadership, self-discovery and goal setting skills.
3. To provide character education and social development.
