“Be international. Be global. Be yourself.”

This resonant advice comes from Lilian Chee, Dean’s Chair Associate Professor of Architectural Design and Visual Cultures at the National University of Singapore, and a writer, curator, educator, creative practitioner, and researcher.

As a DAAD Visiting Academic at Whitecliffe University of Applied Sciences in spring 2026 in Berlin, Lilian taught students in the BA and MA Interior Architecture/Interior Design programs. She experienced firsthand the talent, high standards, and diverse perspectives within Whitecliffe’s international community.

Her message to students: remain open to opportunities, learn from other perspectives, and stay true to what makes your work distinctive.

There is still time to apply for the October 2026 intake and join a learning environment enriched by visiting academics, guest lecturers, and industry practitioners.

A chapter closes. A new one begins.

On 10 July, our community came together for the final BI Annual exhibition under the current name, celebrating another year of extraordinary creativity, innovation and dedication from our Architecture and Design students.

Since 2019, BI Annual has been a highlight of life on campus. This year’s exhibition was especially meaningful, marking both the end of an era and the beginning of a new one as we continue our journey as Whitecliffe University of Applied Sciences.

For the first time in the exhibition’s history, faculty also recognised the best graduating projects across all five Architecture and Design programs—a fitting tribute to the outstanding work of our graduating class.

A huge congratulations to all of our exhibitors, award winners, faculty and everyone who helped make this final BI Annual such a memorable celebration.

And this isn’t goodbye…

✨ Next year, BI Annual returns under a new name: Whitecliffe Works. We can’t wait to share what’s next.

Missed the exhibition? There’s still time.

Selected works will remain on display during our Open Campus Day on 22 August. Save the date and come experience the creativity of our students for yourself.

Very proud to announce that the project of one of our very own Whitecliffe University of Applied Sciences’ students, Marleen Maegi, was awarded last week as one of the top 12 designs in the 20th annual Cosentino Design Challenge!

The international research and creative competition containing two categories for architecture and design has become a global platform fostering innovation among hundreds of architectural and design students from universities across Europe, Asia, America, and Australia with this year’s edition receiving 356 entries from 55 universities.

Our president Prof. Yüksel Pögün‑Zander also played a valuable role in the competition for the 7th year in a row as a member of the jury responsible for anonymously selecting the 6 winning designs and top 6 runners-up.

Big congratulations to Marleen Maegi, 4th‑semester BA Interior Architecture/Design student, for being named as a runner-up in the design category for her project “C for Cosentino”🙌🎉

We look forward to celebrating Whitecliffe University Berlin’s future contributions in the Cosentino Design Challenge next year!
