New Professors Announcement
SRH University welcomes Prof. Jiemin Yan and Prof. Fengxia Xu, two internationally acclaimed Chinese musicians joining the World Music (Transtraditional Creative Musicking) Department.
Prof. Jiemin Yan is a leading erhu virtuoso with an extensive international performing career, appearing at major festivals worldwide.
Main Instrument: Erhu — a traditional two-string bowed instrument known for its expressive, voice-like sound.
Prof. Fengxia Xu is one of the leading figures in contemporary sanxian performance, known for expanding the instrument into contemporary, jazz, and free improvisation contexts.
Main Instruments: Sanxian · Guzheng — traditional Chinese plucked string instruments with distinctive tonal and expressive possibilities.
At SRH University, these instruments are part of a practice-oriented programme that connects musical traditions with contemporary creation and intercultural collaboration.
