A few weeks ago, we had the pleasure of welcoming a group of high-school students from the Robert-Havemann-Gymnasium .official in Berlin.
Accompanied by students from our Masters program Archaeology of the Ancient World, our visitors headed to our Field & Finds Lab where they learned about archaeological documentation, digital tools in archaeology and got to work on real artefacts from our teaching collection.

The Roman Equids project has started! This DFG-funded project will address the management, supply and mobility of horses and other equids in the northwestern Roman provinces, using a range of state-of-the-art methods.
One of the first things to do was to present the project to other Roman zooarchaeologists, so last week, PI Maaike Groot and Post-doc Fabienne Pigière attended the 5th Meeting of the Roman Period Working Group of the International Council for ArchaeoZoology in Lisbon, Portugal, hosted by the wonderful .
Maaike presented the project outline, while Fabienne presented on one of her previous projects. The meeting included an excursion to the Roman Villa Cardílio and the recently renovated archaeological museum in Torres Novas.

ReNEW project meeting in Serbia: The ReNEW team conducted its first group meeting of the project at Leskovac in Serbia, bringing together the UK and German partners with their international collaborators. Tomorrow evening, we are excited to have our very own Prof. Michael Meyer present the Max-Ebert-Vorlesung at FU Berlin. The topic for this lecture (in German only) will be Mobility and Migration in the Iron Age, "Menschen in Bewegung. Mobilität und Migration in der jüngeren vorrömischen Eisenzeit zwischen Ostsee und Schwarzem Meer". Exceptionally, this lecture will not be available online since some of the research has not yet been published.
