LBSU 2019 has begun. As every year the Selma Stern Zentrum für Jüdische Studien Berlin-Brandenburg is happy to host young graduate students from all over the world. This year the participants from Canada, Germany, Israel and the United States engage with their research projects the overall subject 'Jewish Berlin - Past and Present'.

Leo Baeck Summer University in Jewish Studies, July 1-12, 2019, Berlin

The Leo Baeck Summer University 2019 on "Jewish Berlin - Past and Present" intends to lay the foundation for an international network of doctoral candidates and postdoctoral researchers in the interdisciplinary field of Jewish studies.

The interdisciplinary Leo Baeck Summer University aims at doctoral students from all disciplines, who deal with aspects of Jewish Berlin in their dissertations. The focus will be on applying theoretical approaches and research results to the fields of Jewish history, literature, and culture in Berlin. Along with intensive workshops, the participating students are required to present and discuss their own research projects. The final program will be developed in accordance with the participants’ research topics. Guest lecturers will address and analyze them in one-day workshops. The summer school will be conducted in English.

Leo Baeck Summer University 2018 hat begonnen

Am 16. Juli 2018 ist die Leo Baeck Summer University 2018 gestartet. Das 2-wöchige Programm mit dem Fokus “Jewish Studies and Gender Research” will die Grundlage für eine internationales Netzwerk von Doktorand*innen und Post-Docs im interdisziplinären Feld der Jüdischen Studien legen. Neben intensiven Workshops zu Grundlagen der Geschlechterforschung und deren Verknüpfung mit Jüdischen Studien liegt das Hauptaugenmerk auf den Forschungsprojekten der Teilnehmenden liegen.

Join us for a Summer Course for Modern Hebrew at Potsdam University, July 30 - August 17 ! --- This intensive language course offers an introduction to Modern Hebrew for students without prior skills in Hebrew, starting with the Hebrew Alphabet. The course languages will be English (for instructions) and Hebrew (for conversation and exercises). Material and concept of the course will be organized similar to an academic Ulpan (intensive Hebrew course in Israel).
