On 22nd April, BMS celebrated Earth Day with a planting event. 🌍🌻
Hundreds of sunflower seeds were planted, potted up and sent home with our Primary Students to care for, grow and watch bloom into beautiful flowers. 🌱 Every seed is a future pollinator, a small but meaningful contribution to our planet.
Earth Day has been celebrated worldwide every year since 1970, bringing together schools, communities and individuals in a shared commitment to our environment. This year, over one billion people across more than 190 countries took part.
At BMS, we believe that even the smallest act — like planting a single sunflower seed — is a way of showing up for our planet.

BMS celebrated Home Languages Day, and this year we took it outside.
With around 80 nationalities represented in our student community, our Graffiti Club, Letter Art Club, Secondary Students and School Captain came together to paint a giant world map on the playground – big enough to make Neil Buchanan proud.
Our students then took over, decorating the map with chalk – flags, kind messages and home languages from all corners of the world, celebrating the incredible diversity that makes BMS so special.
Thank you to everyone who made Home Languages Day so memorable.

🪐 Houston, we have a party! On 26 March our Grade 5 & 6 students hit the dancefloor for the BMS Primary Space Disco. Limbo, hip swings, a glam station, a photo booth, and so much laughter. Shoutout to our CCEP team for pulling off the most iconic evening. 🪩✨
See you on the dancefloor next year!

During our Friendship & Empathy Week, even the Hawk agreed: in a world where you can be anything, be kind.
From Primary to Secondary, our community took time to notice, celebrate, and amplify the kindness happening around us every day:
🎨 Primary students explored empathy through hands-on activities — the Purple Goo Jar, Paper Hearts activity, and “Stop – Think – Choose” Cards. Grade 1–3 also learned The Kindness Song, which we'll be singing together all year long 🎵 (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pK-0KAHqAk0)
🎬 Secondary students had honest conversations about banter vs. bullying, checked in on each other, and created kindness cards now on display around school.
⭐ On Friday, our Kindness Station in Reception filled up with notes from students, staff, and families sharing acts of kindness they'd done or witnessed. 💌
Small moments add up.

🏆 We're going to the German Championship!
We are proud to share some outstanding news: our BMS Racing Team has been named Landessieger Berlin at the STEM Racing Germany Regionalmeisterschaft OST 2026, qualifying for the Deutsche Meisterschaft 2026.
STEM Racing is a global, Formula 1-supported competition active in 65 countries, challenging students aged 9–19 to design, engineer, brand, and race their own miniature cars. It is far more than a race, it is a full project experience that develops real-world skills in engineering, entrepreneurship, and collaboration.
On 22–23 May 2026, our team will compete at the highest national level, at the Audi Experience Center in Neuburg an der Donau and representing not just our school, but every hour of planning, building, and problem-solving that brought them here.
Moments like this remind us why investing in young talent matters. These students chose to take on a challenge, and they delivered.
If you'd like to cheer our team on, drop your support in the comments — it means the world to them!

100 days later… and still smiling.
Back in February, our first graders celebrated their first 100 days of school – dressed as 100-year-olds, full of laughter, curiosity, and pride.
But this moment is about more than costumes.
It’s 100 days of
learning
growing
becoming
100 days of new friendships.
100 days of questions and discoveries.
100 days of finding their place in our community.
Looking back, it’s a beautiful reminder of how far they’ve already come.
And how much more is ahead.

On March 13th, our Secondary School hosted its annual concert at City Kino Wedding - a beloved Berlin arthouse cinema with classic dark-red plush seats, a stage, and a history that dates back to the 1950s.
A truly special setting for a truly special evening.
Our students took to the stage to showcase their musical talents, performing in front of a sold-out audience of family, friends, and members of our school community. Seeing the hall completely full was a moment in itself.
Beyond the performances, the evening carried a deeper purpose: all ticket proceeds – over €2,300 — will be donated to .
A heartfelt thank you to everyone who made this evening possible – to our music teacher for his incredible dedication in organising and bringing it all together, to our students who took to the stage and performed, to those who worked behind the scenes to make the event run smoothly, and to every family member, friend, and colleague who came to cheer them on. It truly takes a whole community.

Last week, we had the honour of welcoming Dr. Syed Tasnim Raza, Professor at Columbia University and board-certified thoracic surgeon in New York, for a special guest talk in our Auditorium.
Dr. Raza explored the history of medicine and shared insights from his work as a heart surgeon, including heart transplants and the realities of emergency cases like stab wounds. He gave students a rare perspective on both the evolution of medical science and the precision, responsibility, and challenges of working in cardiac surgery today.
We are grateful to Dr. Raza for taking the time to speak with our community and inspire our students interested in health, science, and medicine.

Sweeping success for BMS at Oxford‘s MUN Award ceremony 🌍
From November 27–30, 24 students from Grades 10–12 represented BMS at the Oxford Model United Nations. For many, it was their very first conference, and they approached it with curiosity, dedication, and teamwork.
Over three days, our delegates engaged in thoughtful debates on global issues, collaborating with students from around the world and showing commitment to understanding different perspectives.
We are proud to share that six students received recognition for their contributions:
• Honorable Mentions: Reed, Dilan, Nestor
• Outstanding Delegates: Isadora, Charlotte, Marieluise
Special congratulations go to Katja Malinowski, who received the Top Attendees Award in her 9th year accompanying students to the conference, and Julie Dickinson, who received the Runners-Up Award. 🌱 We had a fantastic workshop with Verbraucherzentrale Berlin all about “Saving Food – Made Easy! 🍏
Together in our Primary School we explored:
🌏 the journey of our food and how much effort it takes before it reaches our plates
🗑️ how to sort waste properly – what goes in the compost bin and what belongs in the trash
📦 clever storage tips to make our food last longer
⏲️ what “MHD” means and when food is still good to enjoy
🍌 and even made yummy banana shakes from rescued bananas!
It was wonderful to see our students engaged, curious and ready to make a difference. Because every little action counts when it comes to respecting our food, our planet and our community.
A big thank‑you to the Verbraucherzentrale Berlin for this interactive, hands‑on learning experience. And to our students: keep asking questions, keep rescuing food — and keep shining! ✨
