Intakes

The main intake offered by all Universities is September / October few universities offer Jan / Feb intake also.

English Language Requirements

IELTS minimum score of 7.0 for Postgraduate and 6.5 for Undergraduate Studies.

TOEFL minimum score of 90 (Internet Based Test) for Postgraduate and 80 (Internet Based Test) for Undergraduate Studies.

Exemption is possible if student has scored above 70% in English language in the X and XII std.(English Medium) & if medium of instruction throughout school & college was English.

Entry Requirements / Eligibility
Undergraduate

65% and above for humanities in XIIth.
70 - 80% and above for Science, Commerce, Engg in Std. XII / Diploma.
2nd class could also be considered by some Universities if there is some additional qualification / experience. (Foundations and Diploma programs are available for students who have secured below 60%)
Completed / will complete 18 years of age before joining a degree program.
Postgraduate

60 % and above in 1st degree is required by most of the Universities for Masters and Research courses.
Some universities may even accept student at 55% and above in the 1st degree GMAT scores ranging between 600-700 by many Universities for Management Programs
if required. Full time work experience of at least 2-4 years after 1st degree required by many Universities for Management Programs (MBA). The same may vary from University to University
All MBA accredited universities require a minimum of 3 years above work experience and an age criteria of 25 years plus as a minimum age requirement.

Postgraduates

The postgraduate course application procedure in the UK differs from the undergraduate procedure in that most Universities have their own postgraduate course application process, as opposed to the centralised UCAS process for undergraduate applications.

Postgraduate courses generally fall into two categories; taught and research based courses. As with undergraduate courses, most taught postgraduates courses in the UK start in late September/early October. Closing dates for taught postgraduate applications tend not to be as strictly defined as undergraduate deadlines. Is it best to submit your application as soon as you possibly can, up to one year in advance of your chosen courses start date.

You must have evidence to show that you have secured funding in place to pay for your studies and an unconditional offer of a place on your course before you are able to apply for your student visa, so you need to allow plenty of time for this.

Postgraduate research based courses tend to allow entry throughout the calendar year. It is still advisable to begin your application as soon as possible, as the process is still lengthy. An offer of a place on your chosen course must be obtained along with proof of funding before you can apply for a student visa.

Scholarships tend to be available for international students, but you must receive an offer of a place on your course in order to be eligible for one. The sooner you receive your offer the better in terms of applying for a scholarship, many scholarships will already be allocated by the early months of the year.

There are five universities in London with medical schools. All of these have close connections to teaching hospitals across and around London.

1. Academic requirements
The entry requirements vary for each university. However, normally applicants are expected to have achieved high grades at school, including high grades in Biology and Chemistry. Some universities expect three science subjects.

2. Non-academic requirements
Universities expect medicine applicants to have participated as fully as possible in school, college or community life. You should be able to demonstrate some experience of society beyond your immediate environment. Your interests, achievements and contribution to your community are taken into account.
Applicants are expected to have undertaken some voluntary work experience in a caring or health environment or observation in a medical clinical setting. It is important for applicants to have a realistic appreciation of what a career as a health professional involves.

The main intake in the UK is September, with most courses starting in September/October. For the September intake, most UK Universities will request that you make your application to study through UCAS, the Universities and Colleges Admissions Service, whom are largely responsible for managing higher education course applications in the UK.

Applications begin from mid-September of the year preceding the start date, so if you want to begin your studies in September 2018 you can start your application from September 2017 onward. Application deadlines for some courses arrive as early as October, whilst the remaining courses generally have a deadline of mid January. Exact deadlines will vary based on course and institute, so make sure to double check. If you missed out on the course of your choice by the mid January deadline, try finding a course through clearing, which is available between July and September.

You will have received confirmation of an offer by the end of March, at which time you must sort out a study visa if you require one. If you do receive all your offers by the end of March, you must then reply to all of these offers by early May.

Many UK Universities also entry to courses in January. Deadlines for such applications vary so it is best to check directly at your chosen institute, but be prepared to submit your application as early as possible.

UK universities generally provide guidance as to how much an international student should expect to spend on living expenses (not including university tuition and college fees). Of course, making a budget and controlling your costs is largely up to you, but here is a short representative list to give you a general idea of living expenses:

University of Liverpool - £5,500 to £7,000 per year
Essex University - £5,700 to £7,500 per year
University of Manchester - £8,100 per year
Oxford University – £9,750 per year
University of London – approximately £210 per week

Important visa information

UK visa rules stipulate that all non-UK or European Union citizens must have a valid student visa to undertake an exchange period. Depending on your nationality you may be able to obtain a visa upon arrival at a UK airport, however many nationalities require applying for a visa in advance. Regardless of how you obtain a visa you will need a visa support letter from your host university.

Students going to the UK for programs of more than six months must apply for a Tier 4 (general) student visa. You will be issued a Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies statement by your host university to apply for your visa. Australian and New Zealand citizens applying for the Tier 4 must pay a £200 Immigration Health Surcharge as part of their visa application.

Students going to the UK for programs of less than six months can apply for a Tier 4 (general) student visa or a short-term study visa. The short-term study visa is the simpler and cheaper option for entering the UK however the visa cannot be extended and no work can be undertaken (paid or unpaid) while in the UK.

University of Oxford. When you think of English universities, Oxford is likely one of the first ones to come to your mind. The University of Oxford is a research university located in Oxford in England. The university is the oldest in the English speaking world, with evidence of instruction being done then as early as 1096. Like many of the older English universities, there is not one “campus” per se, but rather colleges, departments, living accommodations, academic buildings, and other important buildings are located throughout the city of Oxford. There are over 22,000 students at Oxford, including 11,832 undergraduates and 9,857 postgraduates. The University has over 16,500 people employed, and 94% of Oxford students are employed or go on to graduate studies after they leave Oxford. Over 80 Nobel Prize recipients have been associated with Oxford at one time in their lifetimes.
