We define Nannies as carers who through their work with your family will develop a meaningful bond with you and your children. Whether they help with two KiTa pickups per week or support you full time from birth, Nannies will become an important part of your family dynamic.

A Babysitter is an experienced carer who will provide childcare on an occasional basis. You may develop relationships with your Sitters over time, but they will be a welcome visitor rather than an integral part of your childcare “team”.

Every family needs support when raising young children – we were never meant to go it alone! Many Berliners share the experience of juggling their family, relationships and work without the support of “naturally occurring” alloparents: those close friends and family members that would lend a hand, but are too far away for their arms to reach. Nannies choose to provide theirs, to lighten your load and walk a stretch of the road with you.

Childcare takes many forms. There’s labor, there’s love, sleepless nights and daytime adventures. Different parents and different carers have different styles. All share the goal of providing the children in their care with what they need to feel safe, experience joy, manage low spirits, find the world and become themselves. Your Nannies and Sitters will bring ears eager to listen, as well as their knowledge and experience to support and enrich your unique family dynamic.

If you need some occasional childcare, perhaps during the school holidays, if you’re coming to town for a trip or just need a night out, you can request a Sitter through our request form. It will reach a team of vetted, trusted, professional carers who can provide care for a minimum of three hours to a maximum of three months. The team can care for children from infancy and even support families in the first weeks after they welcomed a new baby.
