There was a little blood, a lot of sweat, but no tears at the World Chess Boxing Championships in Serbia. “Those guys are Mike Tyson, but in the head,” says U.S. coach Matt Thomas about a chess round of chess boxing. “In the same way that a boxer would pick someone apart, they’re picking you apart with their brain.”

Veränderungen im Schachboxen Berlin e.V.! 🥊♟️

Nach einer intensiven und bereichernden Zeit im Vorstand tritt Leo zurück, um sich auf andere Projekte zu konzentrieren. Wir sind unglaublich stolz darauf, was wir als Team erreicht haben, und bin dankbar für die Zusammenarbeit mit so engagierten Menschen.

Mit Alina haben wir eine starke Nachfolgerin, die diese Aufgabe mit Herzblut und Kompetenz übernehmen wird. 💪 Der gesamte Verein freut sich riesig, sie im Vorstand willkommen zu heißen und gemeinsam mit ihr weiter an unserer Vision zu arbeiten!

Vielen Dank an alle Mitglieder, Unterstützer und Freunde des Schachboxen Berlin e.V. für eure Treue und euer Vertrauen.

Herzlichen Glückwunsch an Lasse Rabiger zur Bronzemedaille auf der 6. Schachboxen Weltmeisterschaft in Yerevan, Armenien. Gekämpft in der Klasse Junioren u67 mit einem Schach Elo von 1200.

Lasse trat dem Berliner WM Kader bei, nachdem er bei den letzten Junioren Wettkämpfen in Berlin bereits Erfolge für sich feiern konnte.

Sein Gegner im Halbfinale war der russischen Semen Dobrunov, ein gefährlicher Gegner, der uns aus einem Freundschaftskampf im letzten Jahr mit Arminius Rolle bekannt war.

Mit einem leichten Nachteil ging er zuverlässig in die erste Boxrunde, hielt den wilden Russen auf Distanz und konnte einige harte gerade Hände anbringen. Insgesamt war die erste Boxrunde ausgeglichen.

In der zweiten Schachrunde vergrößerte sich allerdings der Nachteil auf dem Brett, sodass wir aggressiver im Boxen vorgehen mussten. Im Infight wurde Lasse dann leider von einer harten rechten Gerade getroffen und der Schiedsrichter brach den Kampf ab.

Ein schöner Kampf, der Lasses starken Fortschritt im Schach und Boxen gezeigt hat. Sein erfahrenerer Gegner gewann später auch den ersten Platz und er musste sich somit nur dem besten geschlagen geben. Nächstes Jahr greifen wir wieder an!

And 4 years are now enough.
After Iepe's death and the deep sadness that followed, and the pandemic that made everything difficult, we somehow kept the club alive.
The number of members is now higher than ever (or hasn't been for a long time), we were successful at the last World Cup, are organizing our own fights outdoors and indoors again and have numerous young fighters to the point where they can easily compete internationally with others.

However, I am resigning tomorrow.
I will remain closely connected to the Chess Boxing Club Berlin, but I am concentrating more on my work with the WCBO Chessboxing World Chessboxing Organisation.

I would like to thank everyone who supported me along the way and wish the new board Alisha and Leo, along with Reza, great success and joy with the fruits of our and their work! 🤝
