Montessori warns us that “We make learning difficult for children by trying to teach them by means of grown-up methods...” advocating that we should instead let them learn through exploration rather than by “memorising rules” (Montessori Speaks to Parents, 2017: 18). We love this quote from Gabriel Garcia Marquez which was shared at a webinar at last night, in which he suggests that it is the Montessori method which allows the child to freely explore, nurturing their creativity and their curiosity.
