'As Guruji said, yoga is ‘meditation in action’ ...this really stood out for me, the mindfulness work, it’s very much a mindfulness practice. It’s not just because you stretch – yes there is that connection, but there is that sense of mind and body coming together – the attention, seeing what you like or dislike, is your ego making you force things, or are you avoiding, being lazy, etc.
For those of us who can do it full time you have that kind of holistic practice, teaching, self-practice, and being a student, which is very important. As teachers we are very bad at following instructions and always think we know best! The weekly class with my teacher is a highlight of my week and I really miss it when I can’t go.'

Yoga practice helps to strengthen our immune system by:
REDUSING STRESS - Stress affects our immunity negatively by increasing inflammation in the body and decreasing the amount of lymphosites available to fight infections.
IMPROVING CIRCULATION of blood and lymph and overall cardio-vascular health, thus improving the ability to rid the body of toxins.
IMPROVING DIGESTION and the ability to assimilate nutrients and vitamins from food.
IMPROVING the quality of sleep.

Australia is in a state of emergency with catastrophic fire conditions across most of the country. Most of these fires have been burning since October last year.
The destruction of land, animal habitat & life, homes and human lives is beyond comprehension.
More than 14.5 million acres (6 million hectares) of native flora have been decimated—thousands of homes and building structures destroyed, an estimated half a billion animals have been wiped out—human lives lost and there is no end in sight. The fire perimeter is more than 10’000 (16’000km) miles long—that is nearly the distance from Sydney to London.
As a comparison, the fires currently burning in Australia are three times the area of the 2018 California fires and six times the size of the Amazon fires in 2019. Help is much needed.

Restorative yoga practice helps counter the stresses and strains of daily life by cultivating attention on ease and relaxation. Postures are often practised using props like bolsters, blankets and blocks to support the body. This physical support helps students to stay in postures comfortably without straining.
