IB exam season is here! Weeks of revision, internal assessments, university offers hanging in the balance - and the expectation to perform through it all!
That pressure is real. And it deserves more than ✨just breathe✨
Here's what the research actually supports:
😴 Sleep before extra revision: One extra hour of sleep the night before an exam does more for performance than one extra hour of studying.
🏃🏽♂️ Move your body: Twenty minutes of walking raises working memory and lowers cortisol for hours afterwards.
✍🏾 Write it down before you sit down: Spending five minutes writing every worry before a the exam clears the mental space you need to actually absorb what you were revising.
👥 Stay connected to one person: Brief contact with someone you trust lowers stress hormones faster than any solo strategy.
None of these are revolutionary. But they're the ones that work — and they're the ones most students skip when the pressure peaks.
If you're in it right now: you're not behind. You're not failing. You're carrying a lot.

Exam season doesn't just affect the mind. It affects the whole nervous system.
Here are 5 strategies students can use right now:
🫁 Breathe — Box breathing (4 counts in, hold, out, hold) activates the parasympathetic nervous system. Repeat 4 times before sitting an exam.
👁️ List — The 5-4-3-2-1 grounding technique interrupts anxious thought loops by anchoring attention to the present moment.
✋ Body — Pressing palms together firmly for 10 seconds provides proprioceptive input that grounds the nervous system quickly.
💧 Cool down — Cold water on the face or wrists triggers the dive reflex, slowing heart rate almost immediately.
Save this for exam season. Share it with a student who needs it. 🌿

🧠🌈 It is Neurodiversity Celebration Week (March 16–22) — and the theme is From Awareness to Action
Awareness tells us different minds exist. Action means intentionally building workplaces, schools, and communities where they genuinely thrive.
The world wasn’t built for one kind of brain — and it’s better for it.
To every neurodivergent person out there: your perspective matters. The world needs you!
This week we’re spotlighting a book by an inspiring inclusion champion and educator, Angeline Aow — Building an Inclusive School. A must-read for anyone committed to turning inclusion from intention into practice. 📚
