CUiB

CUiB is a board-game that explains complex climate change challenges by following the paths of six migratory birds.

The aim is to facilitate kids’ understanding of global issues, inspire empathy for nature, and foster collaboration. CUiB is a board-game intended to help children understand at an early age global concerns, by raising awareness in a playful manner on the importance of sustainable development, cooperation and respect for fundamental rights. While being centered on the idea of migrant birds, the game is broadly an invitation to inquire into what causes people to migrate, thereby inviting children to regard migration of people to be just as natural as the migration of birds. In the present context of a world in which migration flows are intensifying it proves necessary not only to understand, already from an early age, the factors that trigger migration, but also to develop empathy, generosity and respect towards others. The game, through its components and mechanics, generates opportunities for discussing various other relevant topics such as: climate change, food security, health, population dynamics, pollution, sustainable development and others. CUiB provides a good basis for discussing such complex subjects by making them understandable for children. It gives thereby the opportunity for children to develop a sense of responsibility at a young age, when they are beginning to build relationships between themselves and others and between themselves and the world around them.

We are proud to let you know that CUiB is now part of a bigger project: B.I.R.D. - Boxed Ideas for Responsible Development. We use the same playful methods to invite reflection, debates and strategies for sustainability, addressing kids and grownups alike. We remain faithful to the accuracy of information, but we believe the manner in which this information is transmitted makes a great difference for its impact.
Our methods preserve in our audience a sense of wonder, a fascination about the complexity of our world, a joy at learning more and courage to make a change. By wrapping everything in a box we add materiality to the abstract idea of sustainability, turning it into something you can put your finger on. Follow Boxed Ideas and unpack sustainability.

Stolul de păsări de la Carpaterra, Propark-Fundatia pentru Arii Protejate şi Directia Silvica Brasov şi-a luat zborul pentru a vorbi cu elevii de la Scoala Generala Nr. 5 despre migraţia păsărilor, schimbări climatice şi importanţa unei vieţi sănătoase.

We played CUiB in Chemnitz. We had a revigorating "train-the-trainer"
workshop in which we discussed with other educators about the benefits of playful learning. We were a group of at least 6 different nationalities and we spoke during the workshop Arabic, English, German and Romanian. It was the best intercultural experience so far. We so much looking forward for the next one!

Today we took CUiB to Germany as we attended the International Week of Chemnitz! Children of different nationalities played our game, we met inspiring people and all together enjoyed an amazing time.

The children from Zizin had a surprise for us! Take a look at their CUiB inspired concert with the children singing songs about the birds in the game. You can easily see that Zizin has talent! Huge thanks to the children for their beautiful singing and to the organisers for a special event: Superar Romania together with Carpaterra

Copiii din Zizin ne-au facut o surpriza! In timpul concertului inspirat de CUiB, copii au cantat cantecel despre pasarile din joc si ne-au aratat ca Zizin-ul are talent!
Multe multumiri copiilor pentru ca au cantat asa frumos si organizatorilor pentru un eveniment deosebit.
