Application to Romanian Universities
If you are an international student applying for a romanian university you must first of all prove your knowledge of the teaching language. Romanian tuition is usually conducted in Romanian, English, French or German. As many other European countries, Romania now use the ETCS (European Transfer Credit System). This makes it much easier for you as an international student not only to come to Romania for your studies, but also to leave there knowing your cretics will be worth something outside Romania as well.

Higher education (Studii Superioare) programmes and courses in Romania are strongly supported by the academic librarys network. Studying medicine in Romania, one of Europe’s oldest countries, offers students excellent quality of education, a rich cultural heritage, affordable tuition and living expenses, and worldwide degree recognition. Six-year general medicine programs consist of three years of preclinical studies, followed by three years of clinical studies.
The Romanian education system has undergone constant changes and renovations. Today, more than 40 public colleges and universities operate in Romania. There are two medical schools in Romania that currently offer English programs for medical studies: The University of Medicine & Pharmacy Iași & The University of Cluj Napoca.

Money
Money may be exchanged at banks, international airports, hotels or authorized exchange offices called 'casa de schimb' or 'birou de schimb valutar'. ATMs are available at large banks, airports and shopping centers in cities. American Express, MasterCard and Visa are accepted in the main cities. Travelers cheques, preferably in Euros, can be cashed in large banks, some hotels and certain exchange offices in Bucharest but commission is high.
Transportation
Most cities offer efficient and inexpensive bus, trolleybus or tram transport.Bucharest has a good bus and tram system and a metro. Tickets are pre-purchased from agents, and there are stamping machines on board buses and trains. There are also daily, weekly and fortnightly passes. A separate minibus network is operated. Taxi: Inexpensive metered taxis can be hailed in the street or called from hotels. Although most drivers are honest, prices should be agreed beforehand, especially at the airport.
Communication
The direct dialing country code for Romania is +40, and the outgoing code is 00, followed by the relevant country code (e.g. 0044 for the UK). There are numerous area codes applying to cities, towns and villages, for example (0)21 for Bucharest. The country is well covered with GSM 900/1800 mobile phone networks. Email and Internet are widely available in the cities and larger towns.
Roaming agreements exist with many international mobile phone companies. Coverage is good around Bucharest but variable elsewhere. Local mobile phone hire is available.
Internet: Romania has numerous Internet cafés, some offering Wi-Fi.

Student living cost in Romania is not so expensive compared to other European countries, but the monthly amount can vary depending on the lifestyle of each international student. Nevertheless, with 300 to 500 EURO/ month, an international student can live very comfortably and enjoy affordable University education in Romania.
