Once upon a time... There lived a widow who had a set of twins, Mary and Martha. These girls are very beautiful and hardworking.
They also have a neighbor, who's name was Ibidun, she was very wicked and lazy woman.
Ibidun, who had no child of her own, was jealous of her neighbor and her children.
Whenever the widow goes to her farm the twins stay at home to do the house chores, and when there's not more work for them, they go to the farm and help out.
One day, as the twins were washing, Ibidun came in and started chatting with them. Later on, she gave them some akara balls (beans cake) Martha thanked her and went in to drop them, but Ibidun insisted that they eat them immediately.
Mary replied her "we have to show our mother before eating it" but Ibidun said, this is too small for you to keep, eat it, while I watch for you.
So the twins are the akara balls. Ibidun picked up the wrappers for the balls and went away.
Not long after , the twins shouted "my stomach oh, my belly oo". But no help came and in pains they gave up the ghost.
When their mother came back, she was surprised to see the twins lying on the floor, she shouted their names, shook them but to her dismay, they were not breathing.
The villagers who heard her crying came to help, but nobody could tell what happened to the twins. Ibidun was so happy at her success even though she shades crocodile tears.
The widow mourned her children and later continued her farming. Whenever she's not around, the twins will come in and do their normal house chores and when the widow noticed this, she was afraid and ran down to the Ifa priest.
On getting there, the priest said to her.. "my daughter, I have been expecting you, Ifa has already shown me your problem and I will help you".
You see.. he continued, your twins did not die a natural death, they were killed by a wicked and jealous woman but we can still revive them and that is if you will do what I ask you to do.
To be continued...
