First of all — our family loves sports.
Team sports especially — where the team game matters just as much as individual mindset and drive.
Belonging to a team, learning to win and lose, having great games and terrible ones… it all shapes your character for life.
Secondly — we’re enjoying all the fruits the Western world offers.
Both my husband Jakub and I come from the former Eastern Bloc.
Until we were about 10, we grew up in totalitarian/communist regimes. No freedom. No options. No “Western world.”
So while we might seem overly excited or a little crazy about things… we’re simply deeply grateful that we — and especially our kids — can.
Our ancestors literally died for this.
And lastly — we’re immigrants.
We have been for many years.
We’re used to walking the extra mile. Always.
We know how to fight harder, work more, and prove ourselves over and over again.
It became natural for us — and for our kids, too.
So instead of putting us down, take the inspiration. We can rise together. 🤍
Do you have a similar story?
Maybe you’re a foreigner in your own country too?
Hugs,
Vera 🫶
