The GP Seasonal Schools are now on Facebook!

The Global Politics Seasonal Schools are intensive short-term programs providing a platform for current debates in International Relations. Going above and beyond traditional methods and perspectives, they allow advanced students to get acquainted with new approaches in global politics and global political economy. On top of that, thess courses are a great opportunity to learn about career perspectives with internationally-oriented companies and to connect with other students in the field.

8th GPSS Jordan taking off in Amman

CGP is happy to be back to Amman with their 8th joint Global Politics Seasonal School Jordan.

This year’s school revolves all around the guiding theme “The EU, Jordan and Lebanon. What are their Sources of Stability in an Unruly World?”. Once again, the Center for Global Politics invited renowned lecturers from Jordan, Lebanon and Germany to jointly discuss current hot topics.
In the upcoming ten days, 21 participants from Jordan, Palestine, Lebanon, Syria, Yemen, Tunisia and Germany are coming together to engage into topics like “New Approaches to Global Politics” (Prof. Klaus Segbers), “Looking back and Lessons Learned: Strategies to Keep the MENA Region Stable – Perspectives from Jordan, Lebanon and the EU” (Dr. Omar Rifai, Jordanian Ambassador/ University of Jordan, Prof. Karim El M***i/ Université Saint-Joseph de Beyrouth - USJ, Prof. Anja Zoroba/ Birzeit University | جامعة بيرزيت), “China and the US as Troublemakers” (Dr. Mina Sumaadii/ Center for Global Politics) “Migration: Expectations towards the EU, Jordan and Lebanon” (Amrei Meier/ Stiftung Wissenschaft und Politik (SWP), Dr. André Sleiman/ Democracy Reporting International Lebanon, Fadi Al-Qadi/ Activist), and “Generational Change in the MENA Region and Europe/ the EU” (Dr. Dina El-Sharnouby/ AUC The American University in Cairo and Markus Spittler/ WZB - Wissenschaftszentrum Berlin).

The academic program is accompanied by a diverse supporting program that includes a trip to Jerash, Jordan, a talk by جامعة البلقاء التطبيقية BAU's and الجامعة الألمانية الأردنيـــة German Jordanian University's renowned professor Sahar Al-Makhamreh about the situation of refugees in Jordan, a talk by Daad-Jordan as well as a discussion on the topic of “Jordan, Lebanon and the EU: Pillars of Stability in an Unruly World?” at Wild Jordan Center.
The fall school is kindly funded by DAAD and Heinrich-Böll-Stiftung Palestine & Jordan.

Students from Palestine and Jordanian students from outside Amman can apply for scholarships provided by Heinrich-Böll-Stiftung Palestine & Jordan.

Students from the MENA region and Germany may apply for travel stipends provided by DAAD.

The Center for Global Politics is happy to host its second guest scholar from Southeast Asia in Berlin - Ms. Mai Mai from Trường Đại học Khoa học Xã hội và Nhân văn - USSH Hanoi. The are back in Vietnam!

We are happy to have welcomed 20 students from Vietnam, Cambodia and Germany today and are looking forward to interesting debates and discussions with our international lecturers and students in the upcoming two weeks. Among the highlights: an overnight trip to Halong Bay, a panel discussion with the rector of USSH, Prof. Minh, the director of CGP, Prof. Segbers, and lecturer Dr. Leang of Royal University of Phnom Penh.
