DEAR YOU, ✨
by the end of next week I will TAKE DOWN ALL ONLINE COURSES that students of meditation currently offers. It has been very tough on me, but here is why:

I've invested a lot of time, energy and money into building this online school. I've tried to make the best out of the whole COVID-situation, offering what I can in order to help and inspire people while moving my business online.

Even though a fair group of students followed me into the online world and many new ones found me in the beginning of the year (when URBAN SPORTS CLUB still allowed me to offer meditations online), now I am stepping back from all of it.

Being online so much, "selling" meditation, always being chased to do more, show more, sell more, is not something that feels good for me or that I want to do day in and day out. It doesn't reward me personally.

In this "spiritual" online market I see many "teachers" selling high-frequencies and well-meant-concepts, "goddesses"-workshops or glossy new-age-prophecies about how now is the time that LOVE will overthrow everything false and if you're not part of the chosen people, you will be doomed. Just random examples, I am sure you've seen stuff like that.

I also see a lot of great, fancy pictures of beautiful men and women, I read a lot of well written texts (especially from a psychological perspective) and notice so many opportunities that come my way to "COMPLETELY TRANSFORM" my life within a week or month. Well, okay.

I've tried my bit as well, and I hated it. To me it was always important that SOM is NOT about esoteric make-believes, spiritual concepts or a glossy display of new-age-prophecies, that are flooding social media from every corner.

It wasn't always easy, because of course I was also selling something. Only to me, what I am selling doesn't feel as glorious, transformative, glossy as most of those other offerings though - or at least I resist to sell it that way. Because what I am selling is simple: PRACTICE.

Dry, challenging, sometimes uncomfortable, unwarranted outcomes day-in and day-out PRACTICE.

I didn't want to predict how your life turns out when you practice more regularly, because I DONT KNOW.
I didn't want to claim my ways as THE BEST WAYS for you, because I don't know that either.
I just wanted to help you find practices that work for you, so you knew how to do it and how to look upon it, by yourself or with others.

It didn't work so well for me actually. If modern day marketing is rewarding me for being more self-righteous about myself, more aggressive towards my potential clients and more glorifying about my work, then it doesn't work for me.

I've spent many many hours chasing, trying to assimilate to the "online-ways", and spend a lot of money to set everything up and advertise it. But in the end I guess I just failed - and I am not completely unhappy about it.

From now on I won't offer meditation online anymore, but look within what I want to do instead. Actually sitting on that porch doing nothing for a while would be the most precious thing to me anyway.

I am very grateful for everyone who meditated with me, live or in person, and to everyone who signed up for the online courses.

IT FEELS AS TRUE TODAY as it did during the last quarantine. Let's not forget the spaciousness, emptiness, openness in which everything arises in, but instead connect with it, contemplate it. It is the origin of love, compassion and clarity, and whatever might challenge us today, having a friend like spaciousness to help us face those challenges is the most precious thing I can think of.

Grounding Meditation - 10min 09/10/2020

WHEN TIMES ARE STRESSFUL, I rely on my internal and external resources to make it through. In terms of energy, there are - simply said - two types of internal resources: The first one is the energy that I have running through me freely, the second one is the energy stored in me, which we could call my battery. If my free energy gets drained too much, my body will start to free the energy of my battery and hopefully that will get me through the stressful time.

Now, when that time has come to an end, I have a natural need to slow down and to refill my battery. If I don’t allow that to happen, in other words if I don’t consciously engage in refilling myself in ways that really nourish my sense of presence, relaxation, openness, connection, belonging, I risk to continuously running on low battery. If I do that for too long, at some point I am gonna „burn out“.

Meditation can help in two ways. Firstly it can be a great helper in refilling our batteries once they are drained. Secondly it can help us to ground our experience in our bodies while we go through stressful times, so we digest more stress in between and don’t have to drain our batteries as much.

10 min are enough to make a difference.

Therefore I’ve uploaded a FREE 10-MIN-GROUNDING Meditation to soundcloud just now. Whenever you need to, just listen to it and ground yourself. It’s easy, it works, and I believe we all need it now and then.

When people hear that I teach meditation, very often they say things like "Oh, I want to meditate, but I don't know how."

OR "I've tried, but I really can't do it."

OR sometimes people just nod and say "What kind of meditation? I did Vipassana ONCE. So amazing."

Well, even though meditation is very complex on the one side, it is very simple on the other.

I believe if you commit to a guided practice for one (!) month, it can boost your confidence in meditation tremendously and lead to a much more consistent practice of meditation, which is - as we all know - the easiest path to a deeper understanding of meditation, to experience higher spiritual states or to open up much more as a human being.
