How can Montessori education remain deeply human, developmentally grounded, and ethically strong in an increasingly digital world?

In this webinar, Sarah Kennedy-Berge shares insights from her research, classroom practice, and international teacher education work to explore what Montessori in the Digital Age truly means. Rather than focusing on devices or trends, the session centres on the prepared adult, creative technology as a form of expression, and meaningful integration across the Montessori curriculum. Participants will be invited to reflect on how thoughtfully chosen digital tools can support creativity, agency, collaboration, and cosmic education, while remaining firmly rooted in Montessori principles.

Some of the most meaningful moments of a congress don’t happen on a stage.

They happen in the spaces between sessions - over coffee, in quiet conversations after a keynote, or when you realise that someone from another country is grappling with the very same questions you are.

As we approach the Montessori Europe Congress in March, we’re looking forward not only to the formal programme, but also to these in-between moments: the listening, the sharing, the unexpected connections that often stay with us long after we return home.

We can’t wait to create the space for those conversations to unfold.

We are truly delighted that adolescents from across Europe will be joining us at the Congress as part of the Adolescent Voice Collective.

Throughout the Congress, these young people will take part in a rich and carefully held programme designed especially for them that creates space to think together, to question, to reflect, and to express what matters to them in the world they are inheriting.

We are deeply aware that adolescent voices are too often spoken about, rather than truly listened to. The Adolescent Voice Collective is our commitment to doing something different that makes space for presence, contribution, and agency.

We are very much looking forward to welcoming these young people, learning alongside them, and hearing the perspectives they bring. Their voices matter and we are honoured that they will be part of this Congress.

Webinar - Supporting Growth Through Reflection: A New Self-Assessment Tool for Early Childhood Educators
18 March 2026 | 19:00 CET

How do we know whether what we do as educators truly makes a difference for children, for ourselves, for families, and for the planet?

This webinar introduces a new, free online Self-Assessment Tool developed as part of the EACH – Early Childhood and Sustainable Citizenship Routes in the Digital Era project. Designed specifically for early childhood educators, the tool supports thoughtful reflection on professional practice in relation to digital technologies, sustainability, and children’s active participation in learning.

Dina Mendonça and Aléxis Trindade will guide participants through how the tool works, what it measures, and how it can be used to set meaningful goals, strengthen practice, and support continuous improvement at both individual and school level.

As part of the Congress events, we look forward to coming together for a Cultural Mingle - an informal evening of shared food, drinks, and conversation, with a distinctly Latvian flavour.

As part of the evening, we’ll be introduced to FOLK KARDIO, a joyful folk-dance experience that brings music, movement, and culture into the space in a light-hearted and welcoming way. Participation in the dancing is entirely optional - participants are just as welcome to simply enjoy the atmosphere, the music, and the opportunity to connect with colleagues.

This evening is about making new connections, learning through shared experience, and getting a feel for the country that will be hosting us. We look forward to sharing this special moment together in Riga.

We are delighted to shine a light on the exhibitors joining us at the Congress.

Our exhibition space brings together organisations, publishers, material makers, and initiatives from across the Montessori community all offering inspiration, ideas, and practical resources to take back into your schools, training centres, and classrooms.

We are especially pleased that many of our exhibitors have chosen to extend exclusive discounts and special offers to Congress participants. This makes the exhibition not only a place for connection and conversation, but also a real opportunity to invest meaningfully in materials and projects that support Montessori practice.

We are grateful to our exhibitors for their generosity, creativity, and commitment to the wider Montessori movement, and we look forward to welcoming them, and you, into this vibrant shared space.

We are very fortunate that a number of Latvian Montessori schools will be opening their doors to Congress participants in March, in the spirit of sharing practice, spaces, and inspiration.

These upcoming school visits will offer participants a valuable opportunity to experience Montessori education as it is lived each day: engaging with prepared environments, observing pedagogy in action, and exchanging ideas with colleagues working within their local context.

We extend our sincere thanks to the Latvian schools and educators who have so generously agreed to welcome us. Your openness and willingness to share your work contributes meaningfully to the richness of the Congress and reflects the collaborative spirit at the heart of the Montessori community.

The countdown begins.

In just a few weeks, we will gather in Riga for the 2026 Montessori Europe Congress. Three days of learning, conversation, reflection, and connection with colleagues from across Europe and beyond.

The programme brings together keynote addresses, workshops, school visits, research-informed dialogue, sustainability-focused practice, and dedicated spaces for adolescent voice. Alongside this, there will be time to meet exhibitors, experience the local context, and connect with others working deeply in Montessori education.

As we move closer to 27 March, we look forward to welcoming you into a Congress shaped by trust, exchange, and shared purpose.

Riga, here we come!

Gritje Zerndt is the founder and head of Montessori lab berlin, a training centre and think tank supporting Montessori educators in Germany and beyond. A former teacher of Art and English and lecturer in childhood education, she serves on the board of the Montessori Regional Association for Berlin and Brandenburg and contributes to national Montessori dialogue through Take Five. Gritje also works directly with schools to design and remodel learning environments that meet both practical and human needs.

In Designing Prepared Environments, Gritje invites participants to explore how space itself shapes children’s learning and development. Whether we call it executive function, normalisation, or simply the environment doing its quiet work, deeply integrated spaces support children to engage more willingly and allow meaningful transformation to unfold.

Drawing on themes such as human perception, spatial needs, architectural psychology, and interior design strategies, the workshop offers practical tools for refining classroom spaces to invite curiosity, research, and relaxation across age groups. Hands-on design activities will help educators reimagine their own spaces, highlighting that many “special needs” are, at heart, spatial needs.

Ellen Zeiss ia a Montessori educator with over 18 years of experience, holding an AMI 6–12 diploma and two national Montessori diplomas. She has taught at Montessori Bildungshaus Hannover, co-founded Welträume Montessori School, and now works as an independent trainer and facilitator through Montessori bewegt, supporting schools in confident, high-integrity Montessori implementation. As a board member of Montessori Europe, she is committed to strengthening Montessori education across the continent.

In Trust Before Tech: Trusting in Analog Foundations for Media Maturity, Ellen explores how Montessori environments for 6–12-year-olds can nurture media maturity helping children approach digital tools with purpose, balance, and alignment with their values. In an age of constant digital exposure, the workshop examines how Montessori principles can guide children toward resilience and mindful engagement.

Participants will reflect on three key challenges children face with digital media - function, time, and content - and consider practical strategies for both classroom practice and parent work. Through case studies, analog alternatives, and hands-on activities, educators will gain tools to support digital readiness while trusting the natural development of the child.

What does it mean to say that the Montessori guide is a researcher?

Join us on Wednesday 04 February 2026 at 19:00 CET for a free webinar with Montessori Europe President Dr Jarosław Jendza, exploring Maria Montessori’s vision of the teacher as a “scientist of human development.”

Drawing on a qualitative thematic analysis of Montessori’s writings, this session looks beyond research as a set of techniques and instead examines the deeper dispositions Montessori believed were essential to the guide’s work: attentive observation, ethical responsibility, scientific curiosity, and reflective self-development.

Dr Jendza will introduce five key research competencies and discuss how these can shape today’s Montessori practice, inviting participants to reflect on classrooms as living laboratories of observation, inquiry, and growth.
