The workshops and events are facilitated by nomadicArt and are co-created by migrants both with a professional artistic background and without.

nomadicArt is a cultural platform offering diverse creative and artistic activities, which aim to help newly arrived citizens to enter the public arena despite legal obstacles restricting their mobility and inclusion in social life. They provide a safe space for exchange and action. Besides, nomadicArt aims to connect and include various stakeholders from society: migrants, researchers, volunteers and other actors in the close neighborhood.

We are happy to tune the 22nd session of nomadicRadio for this Tuesday 14th from 20:30 on 88,4 FM Colaboradio. On this occasion, we invite the sound artist Lucie Páchová to present their sound-ethnographic work on his travels to Bulgaria.

In the artist's words:

I traveled to Bulgaria for the first time in the summer of 2011. At the current national census results I found out there were a couple of villages that had zero population. In the mountains near to the border with Macedonia and Greece, following the paths without asfalt, I hiked a couple of days to the completely abandoned village Zanoga. I ended up staying the night in neighbouring half-abandoned Krandzilica with thirty falling down clay and stone houses, one ruined school and cultural hall, a church with falling fresques and about ten habitants living. For a couple of days I listened to personal stories of the elders and could see how they are intertwined with stories of decaying rural life and the falling roofs of houses. I broke into some abandoned houses because it felt strangely pleasant when you are surrounded by someone's absence and what is left after their
departure. I returned in the area in the autumn of 2014 and in spring 2021. Some parts of the village became alive.

The compossition you will hear is a game with space inside and outside. Inside means warmth, food, known voice, safety, television. Outside means animals, work, rain, insects, desolation. The recordings of abandoned houses are on the border. Something in the living room, something on the hill. Inner and outer, intimate and foreign, human and animal, rhythmic and static. Sounds of a zither and a play with a bow on various lamps, springs, glass, metal sheets, also found in houses enter into a dialogue with the field recordings.

TOMORROW nomadicRadio SESSION N20

We are happy to broadcast for our first radio show of 2022 IN Colaboradio, two sound pieces from our Chilean friend voice studies scholar-artist Luis Aros in collaboration with the audiovisual artist CePams. You can tune in tomorrow February 8th from 20:30-21:00 Berlin time or 16:30-17:00 Chile time.

In the first section, we will listen to "Vox Populi, memoria Sonora de Ovalle", a multidisciplinary project questioning; what constitutes the common voice of the city of Ovalle? A polyphonic choir was built to interpret the citizens' stories collected in work sessions. Here, the voice-operated as a vector of connection in the activation of the sound memories of Ovalle's inhabitants.

In the final part, Luis and his collaborators transported us to the aesthetics and sound of the voice itself. "Sound System" was born under the question of the possible uses and manifestations of the voice on stage. They worked from the conjunction of the performative body, sound, voice, and visuality, in order to suggest crossings and relationships through interdisciplinary creative exercise.

We hope that with these two sound pieces, you can enter into the author's journey, through the ethnography and experimentation of the body & city, from an Anthropocene perspective.

Enjoy!

TOMORROW nomadic Radio SESSION N19

Session N19 is our last show of the year 2021. A very unstable year for all of us from a local-global and human-nature perspective. For this reason, we kindly invite our nomadic friends Czyn and Laney to take over our radio space and share their latest sound compositions about nature's elements and its ritualistic process of healing and reflection.

In the first part, we will listen to Veza with "becoming land" a 13" ethnographic sound poetry, where she describes her departure from her apartment and poetically becomes land. As she says "This is a story about how I left my apartment and became land. 100 years from now I will have become the compost to the earth in the garden. 100 years from now I will have become the soil to the weeds in the field. 100 years from now I will have become the plants that grow out of the cracks in the concrete. The only way to survive is to start becoming land”

Following Matias in collaboration with his sound collective OLA (Federico Chillo and Lucho Cabrera) with the sound piece "Compas Mag" 13". Laney + OLA uses the magnetic compass of navigation as the motive force of their sonic research work. He is interested in the strength and reliability that the compass has with the earth's magnetic core. In his words " I've been working calibrating, compensating and measuring magnetic compasses for the past four years in the Rio de la Plata". COMPAS MAG takes a journey from waiting at the dock to embarking and disembarking a ship.

We hope that with these two sound pieces, you can enter in the journey of their authors, from the land and European soil to the navigation in the Rio de la Plata in South America.

You can tune it TOMORROW 14th December from 20:30 Berlin time in 88,4 MGZ or www.fr-bb.org

Enjoy!
