✨ CODE’S 2024 HIGHLIGHTS ✨

The new year might have started, but we’re still thinking about all the great things that happened last year and want to share some highlights with you! 🤙

We’re starting off strong with our student , who visited the cybersecurity conference Black Hat Europe 🎩 in December and shared some insights with us:

🗝️ Attended an eye-opening keynote on digital borders and their impact on democracy.
🌐 Explored presentations on IoT, cyberwarfare, and automotive security.
🤝 Connected with leading researchers and cybersecurity professionals.
🔍 Witnessed the Network Operation Center in action, monitoring event security.

His advice ➡️ „I can only encourage all of you curious souls to attend conferences, meetups, and other events to get inspired, learn, and connect with awesome people in the field you’re excited about.“

🎊 Winter Expo & Open House Day ✨

Last Friday was a special day for us at CODE - it did not only mark the end of our winter semester with our Winter Expo ⛄️ but also our first Open House Day on our new campus 🏠

A small recap in numbers:

✨Throwback: Dutch Design Week 2024 🖼️

Although we are lucky to have plenty of inspiration within our own community, we like to think outside the box as often as possible. One way for us to do this is the yearly Dutch Design Week in Eindhoven 🤩

takes place every October and deals with the design of the future… and the future of design 🔮 DDW inspires, shares and connects all the different perspectives that designers have to offer - how lucky we were to be part of it! We visited Eindhoven with a small group of students from all study programs and spent three days exploring the future of design. It was a great experience and we haven taken a lot of inspiration back with us!

✨ We are very happy to announce that Lara Schibelsky Godoy Piccolo has been appointed Professor for Interaction Design with a Specialization in Inclusive and Socially Responsible Design. Congratulations! 💐

At CODE University of Applied Sciences, Lara is teaching and researching design emphasizing inclusion, diversity and accessibility in digital interfaces. Her academic trajectory started in Brazil, focusing on digital inclusion in the energy sector and for the federal government. For another ten years at the Open University in the UK, she contributed to international projects engaging communities with global challenges such as climate change and misinformation. Currently, she serves as chair of an international working group in Human-Computer Interaction Education (IFIP WG 13.1), constantly practicing and advocating for social responsibility in digital design.
