📆 Today is International Women's Day!
It's the day we should take a step back and see what we have achieved and what we can do better.
We are convinced that we should be particularly aware of our own responsibility and our individual potential to drive change for the better and - oh dear - there's a lot to improve, here some key figures from Female Founders Monitor from startupverband.de (Germany 2021 / 22):
- only 20% of the startups were female founded
- an even lower figure of 13% of VC funding flow into female or mixed teams
🤔 This shows clearly that despite all the public discussions and initiatives, we are still far from equal opportunities for women in the startup industry! And this means that we are also far from realizing the potential for positive social change by our industry!
👍 So what can we do? at Founder Institute we firmly believe that we just need to empower any individual to unleash his / her full potential, and the we're getting there:
diversity has always been a core value of Founder Institute and the whole framework is designed to serve this purpose:
✅ the mentors that stand up for diversity and sustainability
✅ the application process which doesn't take into account age, ethnics, nationality and - of course - gender
✅ the structured and demanding program which helps and challenges the founders a max, so that only those who are really dedicated are going to graduate! And guess what: no matter how big the male majority at the start, in the end we have always a female / male ratio way above industry average. Last batch 3 out of 7 startups were created by female founders!
