Within the framework of EU Erasmus+ Strategic Partnership Programme, Freie Universität Berlin, University of Bergen, University of Cambridge, Leipzig University and St Ephrem Syriac Orthodox Monastery in the Netherlands since September 1, 2014 have launched the Aramaic-Online project to develop an online course and new language learning materials in Turoyo Aramaic, called Surayt which is the original language of more than 250,000 people in Europe. Surayt is a Neo-Aramaic language, traditionally spoken by Syriac Christians (also known as Arameans and Assyrians) in different countries in the Middle East and among a worldwide diaspora. Surayt is a continuation of the ancient Aramaic language – famous as the language of Jesus – with a distinguished cultural and linguistic history over a period of more than 3,000 years. Surayt has predominantly been a spoken language, and classified as ‘severely endangered’ by UNESCO, because of the emigration or expulsion of its speakers from their native areas in the last 50 years. There is no standardized way of writing Surayt, both in Syriac and Latin alphabets, which has impacts on the effective use of the language both in producing literature with this language and also in everyday written communications such as in social media. The future viability of Surayt is therefore related to the efforts and projects that aim to develop durable educational sources and innovative tools for teaching Surayt.

Heute leben die meisten Turabdiner in Europa und ihre Muttersprache ist vom Aussterben bedroht. Die neuen Generationen, die in Europa geboren und aufgewachsen sind, beherrschen das Aramäische nicht mehr als eine Muttersprache, sondern lediglich als eine Zweitsprache.

Das Surayt-Aramaic-Online Project Project hat eine Lernplattform geschaffen, die die Möglichkeit bietet, ihre Sprache
mit einem hohen Standard zu lernen. Es bietet insgesamt 24 Lektionen, Lesestücke und Tabellen der ganzen Verbkonjugation und noch mehr! http://surayt.com/

Ein Consortium von 5 Institutionen unter der Leitung der FU Berlin hat das Projekt auf die Beine gestellt und stellt es uns in einem Vortrag vor. Ihr habt auch selber die Möglichkeit, selber Fragen zu stellen und direkt schon mit den ersten Lektionen zu starten.

EINLADUNG ZU EINEM ONLINE-SEMINAR ÜBER DAS SURAYT-ARAMAIC ONLINE PROJECT

Sehr geehrte Damen und Herren,
In den letzten Jahren hat das EU Erasmus+-Projekt „Surayt-Aramaic Online“ einen umfassenden Online-Kurs für das Surayt-Aramäische (Turoyo) erstellt, der auf der Webseite des Projekts www.surayt.com in sieben Sprachen und in den Stufen A-C GER angeboten wird. Die dazugehörigen Lehrbücher in Form von PDF-Dateien wurden inzwischen mehr als 10.000 Mal heruntergeladen. Zusätzlich zum Sprachkurs wurden ein Glossar mit mehr als 2.000 Einträgen, ein digitales Korpus im Umfang von 175 auf Surayt-Aramäisch verfassten Artikeln und zwei Applikationen (Šlomo-SuraytApp und SuryoyoTalk) produziert.

Für Freitag den 11. Dezember, 16-18 Uhr hat das Projektteam über zoom.us ein Online-Seminar in deutscher Sprache geplant, um Interessent*innen die Projektergebnisse vorzustellen und mit ihnen zu diskutieren. Dazu laden wir Sie herzlich ein.
