As part of the ongoing collaboration between The German University in Cairo (GUC) and the German International University (GIU) Berlin, a two-day practical workshop titled:
“Unlock Your Data Using Python & R: From Data Preparation to Statistical Analysis”
was organized at GUC by Prof. Heba Ali, Associate Professor at GUC, and delivered by Prof. Martin Walther, Associate Professor of Financial Markets, Investment and Banking at GIU Berlin.
The workshop introduced participants to modern analytical tools widely used in both academia and industry. With a strong hands-on approach, students explored how open-source environments such as Python and R support data management, statistical analysis, and reproducible research workflows using real-world datasets.
The initiative successfully bridged the gap between empirical concepts taught in management and their practical application through contemporary data analytics tools.
We extend our sincere appreciation to Prof. Heba Ali for organizing this valuable initiative and to Prof. Martin Walther for delivering such an insightful and engaging workshop.

Final Design Studio Presentation at GIU Berlin 🎓🏗️
Under the guidance of Prof. Christian Gänshirt, Architecture and Urban Design Professor at the German International University in Berlin (GIU Berlin), students presented the final outcomes of this semester’s Design Studio.
The studio focused on a real-world project: the Füchse Berlin Reinickendorf e. V. Sports Park, located just 20 minutes from the GIU Berlin campus. Students explored innovative and sustainable architectural strategies to expand and enhance the club’s facilities, linking academic research with professional practice.
The final presentation was enriched by the participation of distinguished guest critics:
☀️ Mrs. Katrin Schultze-Berndt, Head of Infrastructure and Project Development at Füchse Berlin Reinickendorf e. V., who introduced the site at the beginning of the semester and continuously supported the students with practical insights.
☀️ Mr. Cederic Haß, CEO of Füchse Berlin Reinickendorf e. V., who welcomed students to experience the club’s spirit firsthand and provided early feedback on their proposals.
☀️ Prof. Joerg Joppien, co-architect of the Max-Schmeling-Halle and an internationally renowned expert in sports architecture and sustainability, whose lecture and critiques made a valuable contribution to the studio.
☀️ Prof. Dr. Zhao Deli, from the Architecture School at the China Academy of Arts in Hangzhou, who offered thoughtful feedback during the midterm review.
☀️ Dr. Carsten Krohn, who delivered an inspiring guest lecture titled “Kahn Revisited” on the contemporary relevance of Louis Kahn’s architecture.
GIU Berlin sincerely thanks all guest critics for their engagement and for strengthening the connection between architectural education and professional practice.

🌟 Celebrating Innovation at GIU-Berlin! 🌟
We were thrilled to co-organize a special event with the Reinickendorf Public Library to showcase the wide-ranging applications of AI in architecture, sports, medicine, virtual reality, and autonomous robotic vehicles. 🚀🤖
The exhibition was officially opened by Mr. Harald Muschner, District Councilor for Reinickendorf (CDU) and Head of the Department of Education, Sports, Culture, and FM. His insightful remarks on the future of AI and the importance of collaboration set the tone for a fantastic event. Mr. Muschner also toured the exhibition, engaged with our talented GIU students, and even experienced their interactive demos firsthand. 👏
We couldn’t be more proud of our GIU bachelor’s and master’s students. Their professionalism, energy, and enthusiasm were truly inspiring. They explained complex ideas with clarity and represented GIU with excellence. 🌟
We are incredibly fortunate to lead such a group of young, innovative minds. Their creativity and dedication serve as a reminder of why investing in education and research is so important. 🙌💡
