Āyurvedic autumn tips for better digestion & more grounding 🍂
As temperatures drop, it’s not uncommon to feel less grounded in the body and mind. Āyurveda teaches that similar qualities increase each other, while opposite qualities restore balance. Autumn tends to be dry, cold, and light, so we meet it with what is oily, warm, and grounding.
Here are some ways to welcome that in for yourself:
🔸 Regularity is key, like waking up at the same time and having regular, warm, cooked meals such as stews, soups, cooked vegetables and porridge
🔸 Using vāta-reducing spices like ginger powder, cinnamon, hing, and fennel
🔸 Going for sweet, sour, and salty flavors: carrots, sweet potatoes, pumpkin, citrus fruits, yogurt, and mineral-rich salt
🔸 Practice self-massage with warm oil (abhyanga). Sesame oil is the classic choice to pacify vāta
