Meet Shilu, Catiana, and Herlin of Batch of 2026. Their journey starts here. 🎓

Some have lived in Berlin for a year. Others arrived just three days ago. They come from all over the world, and this week they began their first semester together.

Exploring Berlin with Batch of 2026 🐻

Just after the orientation, our new students swapped the classroom for the city with a walking tour of Berlin, organised by Jette (Programme Manager) and Uyen.

For an international cohort about to call Berlin home for the next few semesters, there's no better way to get your bearings. The tour covered the city's landmarks and history, from the Berlin Wall to Brandenburger Tor. It was a great opportunity for the cohort to learn more about the city and get to know one another.

To Intake 2026: this is just the beginning of your LSM journey. Good luck and welcome again to Berlin!

🎓 Congratulations to Juili Sanjay Dhavalikar on graduating from the MBA&E Life Science Management programme!

Juili completed her master’s thesis under the guidance of his supervisors Prof. Dr. Claudia Baldauf & Kalyani Kulkarni Paithane. Her thesis topic, "AI-Based Medical Devices – An Overview of Regulatory Aspects in the EU and USA," explores the intersection between AI usage, medical devices, and regulatory affairs.

We extend our best wishes to Juili as she moves forward in her professional journey, continuing to apply her knowledge and global perspective within the life sciences sector. 🚀

Registering for a module outside your LSM curriculum — like a German language class — is quicker than you'd think. Here's the 30-second version:

1️⃣ Log into LSF with your HTW account
2️⃣ Go to Course Overview → Fremdsprachen → Deutsch als Fremdsprache
3️⃣ Pick your level, from Grundstufe (A1) right through to Oberstufe (C1)
4️⃣ Hit Register and you're done ✅

The same process works for any elective outside your core LSM modules, not just language classes — handy to know once you start shaping your own timetable.

Small tip: registration phases open on set dates each semester, so keep an eye on the LSF calendar to avoid missing your slot.

A little LSF fluency goes a long way — sorted in under a minute once you know where to click.

Welcome at HTW Berlin, Batch of 2026! 🎓

The new LSM cohort arrived on campus for their first-day orientation, and what a start it was.

🏫 Campus tour: Katja (Marketing Expert) and Uyen (Senior LSM Student) led the group around campus, so everyone now knows where to find lectures, the Mensa, and the all-important coffee.

👋 Official welcome: Prof. Dr. Claudia Baldauf (Programme Director), Prof. Dr. Henning von Horsten (Deputy Programme Director), and Jette (Programme Manager) welcomed the cohort to their first semester and walked through the essentials, including the schedule for the weeks ahead.

🤝 Speed dating: to finish, everyone took part in a speed-dating game, swapping stories and backgrounds. With an international cohort from across the globe, it was a brilliant way to start building the community that makes what it is.

Here's how to set up eduroam WiFi at HTW Berlin using easyroam:

1️⃣ Go to easyroam(.)de and log in with your HTW credentials
2️⃣ Download and install the easyroam app for your device
3️⃣ Log into the app with your HTW credentials
4️⃣ Connect — you're now on eduroam, both on campus and at partner universities across Europe

A couple of things worth knowing:

On 3 October, Germany marks the Day of German Unity, commemorating the 1990 reunification of East and West Germany after decades of division.

Here are some of the places in Berlin where you could celebrate:

🎨 East Side Gallery — the longest surviving stretch of the Berlin Wall, now the world's largest open-air gallery
🚪 Brandenburg Gate — the definitive symbol of German unity, worth visiting any time of year
🎡 Berlin Herbstrummel — the city's autumn funfair, running at Kurt-Schumacher-Damm through October
🎧 Club Culture Day — expanded into a full week-long festival in 2026
🕌 Tag der offenen Moschee — many of Berlin's mosques open their doors for guided visits and cultural exchange

For our international students, it's also a good moment to reflect on Berlin's history — a city once split by a wall, now one of Europe's most connected, diverse, and forward-looking places to live and study.

Congratulations, Ashwin John of Batch of 2024, for graduating from the MBA & Engineering in Life Science Management programme!

Under the guidance of Prof. Henning von Horsten and Suhail Jabnoun, Ashwin has successfully completed his Master's thesis, "A GIS-Based Commercial Prioritisation Framework for Pharmaceutical Rollout: Predicting GLP-1 Uptake Across London's Primary Care Networks", which uses geospatial intelligence to develop a commercial model for pharmaceutical rollout.
