How to Check the Quality of an IVF Clinic Before Going Abroad

Choosing an IVF or fertility clinic abroad is one of the most important decisions in your treatment journey. Beyond success rates, patients should consider communication, transparency, safety standards, laboratory quality, professional expertise, and independent external evaluation.

At Temos International, we believe informed patients make safer decisions. As the first international accreditation body to develop specialized accreditation programs for reproductive care, we encourage patients to look beyond marketing claims and evaluate the clinic as a whole.

The questions in this checklist are designed to help patients identify healthcare organizations that combine qualified professionals, modern technology, strong quality systems, transparent communication, and patient-centered care. They also serve as a useful reflection tool for healthcare organizations preparing for international accreditation, and what you should be prepared for as a clinic.

If a clinic demonstrates professionalism, transparency, robust laboratory practices, and independently verified quality standards, you can move forward with greater confidence. If these elements are missing, it may be worth exploring other options.

One Size Does Not Fit All: Why a Tailored Approach is Critical in Healthcare Accreditation

Consider a hospital and a dental clinic, both pursuing accreditation. While they operate within the same healthcare field, their areas of specialization, clinical protocols, and patient needs differ significantly. Hospitals deliver a wide range of medical services such as surgery, intensive care, and maternity care. In contrast, dental clinics focus on oral health, offering treatments like cleanings, fillings, and orthodontics.

If both were to follow a generic accreditation program, the unique requirements of each would not be fully addressed. A hospital’s standards and protocols are vastly different from those of a dental clinic, and applying the same framework would risk overlooking critical aspects of quality and patient care.

This is where Temos’ tailored approach makes the difference. We understand that healthcare is not one-size-fits-all. That is why Temos offers specialized accreditation programs designed to meet the unique needs of various healthcare providers, including hospitals, dental clinics, ophthalmology centers, reproductive medicine facilities, and rehabilitation services.

Every Temos accreditation program is built on three key pillars: international best practices, rigorous scientific research, and practical experience from our multidisciplinary and multicultural team. This foundation ensures that our standards are not only globally recognized but also practical, relevant, and adaptable to the realities of diverse healthcare organizations.

Through this customized and evidence-based approach, providers can strengthen their operations, deliver safer and more effective care in their field of expertise, and enhance both clinical outcomes and the overall patient experience.

Accreditation Readiness: Is Your Organization Ready for Accreditation?

Successful accreditation begins long before the onsite assessment. It starts with asking the right questions. Does your executive team actively support accreditation? Are your policies, procedures, and documentation up to date? Do your employees consistently understand and apply your organization's standards in their daily practice? These are just a few of the key considerations that lay the foundation for a successful accreditation journey.

Accreditation is not about checking boxes. It's about creating a culture of quality, accountability, and continuous improvement embedded throughout the organization. By taking the time to evaluate your readiness, you can identify strengths, address opportunities for improvement, and prepare your team for long-term success.

At Temos, we understand that every healthcare organization is unique. That's why our dedicated Customer Care Team works alongside you throughout the entire accreditation journey, providing practical guidance, personalized support, and internationally recognized standards to make the process clear, structured, and achievable.

How Do Leading Healthcare Organizations Continue to Improve?

One of the most common misconceptions about healthcare accreditation is that you don't need it if you are already doing well and have a large number of patients.

The healthcare industry is constantly evolving, and excellence is a continuous journey. What works today may not work tomorrow, which is why international accreditation is so important. As medical technologies, patient expectations, regulations, and global best practices continue to advance, healthcare organizations must evolve alongside them to consistently deliver safe, high-quality, patient-centered care. A study has revealed that accredited healthcare facilities experience a 26% decrease in patient complications and a 41% reduction in medication errors.

With tailored accreditation programs for different specialties, Temos Accreditation is more than a stamp of approval. It is a benchmark that your healthcare organization meets international standards through an impartial evaluation by experts who understand global best practices. We guide organizations in identifying opportunities for enhancement and strengthening their commitment to excellence through continuous improvement.

This commitment to continuous improvement is also reflected in the continuous development of Temos accreditation standards. For example, in 2025, Temos introduced a dedicated chapter on Digital Systems & Artificial Intelligence, ensuring our standards remain aligned with the changing realities of modern healthcare. This adaptive approach allows Temos to address emerging challenges while maintaining rigorous quality and safety expectations.

Don't settle for good enough. Take a proactive step and partner with Temos to strengthen quality, build trust, and stand out from the rest.

Your Roadmap to Accreditation Success

Every successful accreditation journey begins with a clear roadmap, and at Temos, you never have to navigate it alone.

The process begins with the preparation phase, which typically lasts six to twelve months. During this time, your facility gains access to essential tools, such as our online self-evaluation and scoring guides. This phase also involves forming an accreditation team and developing a detailed action plan.

Once the preparation is complete, we move into the technical review and final preparations for the onsite visit. Before the onsite visit, the travel plans must be organized, and the dates of the onsite visit, the assessor approval form, accommodations, meals, and contact details must be sorted. After submitting accreditation documents, our team of experienced Temos assessors will review your documentation, provide constructive feedback, and help finalize the details for the onsite assessment.

The onsite visit takes 2-5 days, after which we enter the reporting and approval phase. Within two weeks, our assessors will prepare a comprehensive final report. The Temos Medical Board will make the final approval and accreditation decision. If successful, your healthcare organization will receive Temos accreditation, which is valid for three years.

A progress report and supporting evidence are to be submitted within three to six months of receiving accreditation to ensure ongoing compliance and continuous improvement in patient care and service delivery.

Temos continues to support our accredited partners beyond this point. Throughout the process, the Temos Customer Care Team offers full support to help navigate the accreditation, ensuring a smooth and efficient experience for your organization.

Reach out to Temos today and take the first step towards transforming your healthcare services through globally recognized accreditation.
