Our Brains Need Problems: Turning Friction into Happiness with BEYOS
In my recent professional training programme with the brain researcher Gerald Hüther – a German neuroscientist - I learned something that really stayed with me:
Our brains actually need problems – solving them is what makes us happy.
Challenging situations, friction, things that don’t immediately work out — they are not obstacles! They are the very moments that push our brain to search for solutions, try new paths and explore different perspectives. And the more possibilities we explore, the richer our solutions become — both in our professional and our private lives.
This thought immediately reminded me of the BEYOS concept and its 34 life needs.
If each of us carries a unique mix of life needs, it is only natural that we sometimes collide when we work together.
But seen from Hüther’s perspective, this is exactly where the real potential lies.
Different needs make us think differently.
Different perspectives force us to look beyond our own life needs.
And suddenly what first felt like a conflict becomes an invitation: to think again, to look again, and to find a better way.
The BEYOS personal analysis makes these life needs visible. It shows what drives each of us and why certain situations resonate differently with different people.
And once we understand that, many “conflicts” lose their sharp edges.
Instead, they become what our brains actually thrive on: opportunities to grow, to connect perspectives and to find solutions that none of us would have discovered alone.
Maybe being different is not the problem after all.
Maybe it is exactly what helps us create a richer and happier life together.
Als BEYOS Advisor fasziniert mich besonders, wie das Verständnis unserer unterschiedlichen Lebensbedürfnisse schwierige Situationen plötzlich lösbar macht – und neue Perspektiven eröffnet.
