Tripod Nr.6
Ausgangspunkt ist der Würfel. Durch verschiedene Schnitte mit der Bandsäge entsteht die Grundstruktur. Danach werden mit einer biegsamen Welle die verschiedenen Details gefräst und ausgearbeitet, die Schleifvorgänge die dann folgen sind nochmals sehr aufwendig und erfordern viel Geduld. Danach fangen die „Variationen“ an, entweder in Form von verschiedenen Beizen, Sandstrahlen, Brandmalerei sowie anderen Texturen. Die Skulpturen erscheinen dadurch immer wieder in neuem Licht.
Dies ist die sechste Skulptur aus der Serie Tripod - Variationen.
Die Skulptur Tripod Variation Nr.6 ist aus Mammutbaum hergestellt. Gesägt, gefräst, geschnitzt, geschliffen und sandgestrahlt.
Die verschiedenen Arbeitsabläufe sind durch die filigrane Struktur sehr komplex und zeitaufwendig gewesen obwohl es die Größe nicht vermuten lässt, die innere Struktur ist ca. 1 mm dick und fast so zerbrechlich wie Eierschalen.
Die Oberfläche habe ich mit roter und schwarzer Spritusbeize behandelt, die inneren Kanten sind mit Goldlack betont.
Die Maße sind: ca.140 mm breit und 65 mm hoch,

The starting point is the cube. The basic structure is created by making various cuts with the band saw. Then the various details are milled and worked out with a flexible shaft, the grinding processes that follow are again very complex and require a lot of patience. After that, the “variations” begin, either in the form of different stains, sandblasting, pyrography, and other textures. The sculptures always appear in a new light.
This is the sixth sculpture from the Tripod - Variations series.
The sculpture Tripod Variation No.6 is made of sequoia. Sawn, milled, carved, sanded and sandblasted.
The various work processes were very complex and time-consuming due to the filigree structure, although the size does not suggest it, the inner structure is approx. 1 mm thick and almost as fragile as eggshells.
I treated the surface with red and black spirit stain, the inner edges are accentuated with gold paint.
The dimensions are: approx. 140 mm wide and 65 mm high.
